Utah High School Volleyball - Lone Peak over Westlake
September 30, 2014: Highland, UT 84003 The crowd at Tuesday's league bout between the Lone Peak Knights (Highland, UT) and the visiting Westlake Thunder (Saratoga Springs, UT), saw Lone Peak's volleyball squad beat Westlake by a tally of 3-0.
With the win, Lone Peak upgrades its record to 8-7 on the year. The Knights travel to St. Francis (Wheaton, IL) to play the Spartans in a non-league bout on Friday, October 3. The Spartans go into the bout with a record of 17-2. St. Francis lost 2-0 in their recent non-league bout against Assumption (Louisville, KY)
The Thunder now own a 3-7 record. They play next when they host Pleasant Grove for a 5A Region 4 bout on Thursday, October 2. Westlake will play a Vikings squad coming off a 3-0 league win over Riverton (Riverton, UT). The Vikings record now stands at 16-6.
Match Summary
LP started out slow, but was able to find their groove as they showed a powerful offense and nice blocking skills at the net. Makaila Jarema had a particularly nice night going 7 for 7 in the middle. In addition Lewis had five aces from the serving line.
