California High School Basketball - Stone Ridge Christian can't hold off Turlock Christian
December 5, 2009: Merced, CA 95348 The Turlock Christian Eagles basketball team scored 57 points and restricted the host Stone Ridge Christian Knights to 55 in the Eagles non-league victory on Saturday.
The Eagles now sport a 2-4 record. They play next when they host Orestimba for a non-league contest on Monday, December 7.
The Knights (2-2) will now prepare for their contest against Big Valley Christian (Modesto, CA). The Lions come into the non-league contest with a 3-1 record. In their last contest, Big Valley Christian was nudged by Victory Christian (Carmichael, CA), 70-39, in a non-league contest.
First Quarter
Turlock Christian jumps out to a 10-2 lead. Stone Ridge makes a run to pull ahead at the end of the quarter.
Second Quarter
TC comes out hot in the second - with Josh Wright hitting 3 - 3's. TC defense, led by Kyron Loving, only allows SR 8 points in the quarter. TC takes a 31-20 lead into half-time.
Third Quarter
Turlock Christian falls into heavy foul trouble - with 5 players at risk at fouling out, thus only getting limited playing time. Stone Ridge puts up 20 points in the quarter. TC manages to hold on and leads 48 -40 at the end of the quarter.
Fourth Quarter
Stone Ridge makes another run - and pulls ahead 50-48. 3 TC players foul out - TC is playing with it's remaining 5 guys (including Casey Snyder who was not expected to play due to an injury). 2 of the 5 have 4 fouls. TC pulls ahead 55 -52. Stone Ridges' Ryan Fletcher hits a 3 to tie it! TC gets a time out with 11 seconds left. Brandon Rogers hits a runner as time expires! TC wins 57 - 55. Wright, Heller, and Rogers end the game with 13 a piece.
