California High School Baseball - Nipomo loses to Santa Ynez
May 4, 2012: Santa Ynez, CA 93460 The Santa Ynez Pirates baseball team scored 6 runs and limited the visiting Nipomo Titans to 0 in the Pirates league victory on Friday.
The Pirates (18-6) will now prepare for their match against Santa Maria (Santa Maria, CA). The Saints go into the Los Padres outing with a 3-20 record. In their last outing, Santa Maria was overwhelmed by Pioneer Valley (Santa Maria, CA), 19-0, in a non-league outing.
Next, the Titans face the Mission Prep Royals (San Luis Obispo, CA) in a non-league outing, on Tuesday, May 8. Nipomo will attempt to advance on its 10-8 season record. The Royals enter the outing with a 8-15 record after their 9-1 non-league loss to Santa Clara (Oxnard, CA).
Game Summary
The Santa Ynez Pirates defeated the visiting Nipomo Titans by a score of 6-0 to improve their overall record to 18-6, 7-4 in the LPL. Senior Zach DeMarcus, the Pirates closer got the start on the mound and pitched a complete game shutout. Zach gave up only 3 hits while striking out 6 and walking only two batters. Zach also had a big hit in the 6th inning, a two RBI single to centerfield. Troy Mauk had a good day at the plate going 2 for 3 with 3 RBI's. Also getting hits were Brooks Fillipin, Ryan Welker, Lee Jensen (a double) Thomas Rowan and Jake Pritchard. The Pirates travel to Santa Maria next Tuesday and Mission Prep on Thursday.
