Michigan High School Baseball - Anderson nips Woodhaven
April 23, 2013: Southgate, MI 48195 Anderson Titans (Southgate, MI) fans exited the stadium thrilled Tuesday as they observed their baseball squad hold off the visiting Woodhaven Warriors (Brownstown, MI), 3-2 in a league test.
With the win, Anderson upgrades its record to 4-2 on the season. The Titans travel to Woodhaven (Brownstown, MI) to battle the Warriors in a Downriver test on Friday, April 26. The Warriors come into the test with a record of 3-2. Woodhaven won 7-6 in their recent league test against Trenton (Trenton, MI)
With the defeat, Woodhaven falls to 2-2 on the season. The Warriors host Trenton (Trenton, MI) to battle the Trojans in a Downriver test on Thursday, April 25. The Trojans come into the test with a record of 4-5.
Game Summary
Titan starter Josh Lockwood struck out 10 batters to carry the Southgate Anderson Titans to a 3-2 victory over Woodhaven.
Lockwood worked out of four difficult moments for the Southgate Anderson Titans. He pitched eight innings and allowed no earned runs on three hits.
Anderson got on the board in the 1st when Greg Galetto drove home Paul Sullivan who led off the inning by getting hit by a pitch. The Warriors took the lead in the 4th on 2 unearned runs.
Southgate tied it up in the 5th when Sullivan led off with a single, moved to 2nd on a ground out by Tyler Hall, and scored on a single by Shane Freitag.
With runners on 1st & 3rd and one out, Tyler Pinkowski grounded up the middle. SS Layne Gusler made a nice play to get the force out at 2nd, but threw wildly to 1st where Pinkowski was safe and Bobby Bellon scored the game winning run.
