March 22, 2012: Diamond Bar, CA 91765 Diamond Bar Brahmas (Diamond Bar, CA) backers exited the stadium thrilled Thursday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Diamond Ranch Panthers (Pomona, CA), 5-2 in a league challenge.
The Brahmas now own a 1-3 record. They take the field next when they host Bishop Conaty-Loretto for a non-league challenge on Friday, March 23. Diamond Bar will face a Wildcats squad coming off a 9-3 league loss to Mission (San Gabriel, CA). The Wildcats record now stands at 2-3.
With the loss, Diamond Ranch falls to 3-10 on the campaign. The Panthers host Los Altos (Hacienda Heights, CA) to face the Conquerors in a Hacienda challenge on Tuesday, March 27. The Conquerors enter the challenge with a record of 7-3. Los Altos won 10-0 in their recent league challenge against Rowland (Rowland Heights, CA)
Game Summary
Junior pitcher Dani Wilson led Diamond Bar to its first victory of the season after tossing a five-hitter and also slamming a double and solo home run and scoring two runs to help lift the Brahmas to a 5-2 win over Diamond Ranch in Hacienda League play March 22. Wilson (1-1, 1-3) led off the sixth inning with a solo shot over the left-center fence, and senior Julie Walters followed with a solo homer of her own deep to center to give the Brahmas a 3-2 lead. Marissa McKendall kept the two-out rally alive by singling to center and Amber Montes drew a walk to set up Natalie Barajas' two-run triple to right-center field to cap a four-run sixth inning for Diamond Bar (1-1, 1-3). Brianna Gonzelez added two hits for the Brahmas, who tallied eight hits.
Diamond Ranch was led by Trista Bures and Cassidy Morton who each had RBI singles. Nicole Nishimura took the pitching loss for the Panthers (0-2, 1-10) after giving up four runs on six hits in two innings of work.
