The Massac County Patriots (Metropolis, IL) baseball the visiting Shawnee Redskins (Wolf Lake, IL), 4-2 in Friday's non-league contest.

The Redskins now sport a 13-12 record. They take the field next when they host Crab Orchard for a non-league contest on Monday, May 17.

Game Summary

The Redskins dropped their third in a row, bringing the season record to 13-12 as they fell behind early and lost to Massac County 4-2. Greg Smith pitched well in the loss, allowing 3 earned runs and scattering seven hits. He also went 2-3 with an RBI double. Aaron Lambdin contributed a triple and an RBI, while Tyler Brant was 2-3 and Gavyn Ellet threw in double in 3 plate appearance. Ellet led off the 2nd with his double, but failed to reach 3rd base as the Shawnee offense sputtered again. The last regular season game will come on Monday versus a tough Crab Orchard club who are themselves seeded 2nd in the Trico Regional. Shawnee hopes to get a win going into the tournament, which starts for them on Thursday the 20th against conference rival Egyptian - where the 'Skins can avenge an earlier loss.
