Mount Miguel Matadors (Spring Valley, CA) backers were pleased Saturday as they saw their basketball squad overcome the visiting Santa Margarita Eagles (Rancho Santa Margarita, CA), 52-44 in a non-league bout.

With the victory, Mount Miguel upgrades its record to 8-6 on the campaign. The Matadors host El Capitan (Lakeside, CA) to play the Vaqueros in a Grossmont - Valley bout on Friday, January 11. The Vaqueros come into the bout with a record of 4-12.

Next up, the Eagles play the Mater Dei Monarchs (Santa Ana, CA) in a Trinity bout, on Tuesday, January 8. Santa Margarita will attempt to upgrade on its 5-9 season record. The Monarchs come into the bout with a 14-0 record after their 70-52 non-league win over La Jolla Country Day (La Jolla, CA).
