California High School Softball - Burbank bounces Hoover
April 24, 2012: Burbank, CA 91502 The Burbank Bulldogs routed the visiting Hoover Tornadoes softball squad by a count of 16-6 in Tuesday's league battle.
The Bulldogs (14-3) will now prepare for their battle against Glendale (Glendale, CA). The Nitros go into the Pacific battle with a 3-7 record.
The Tornadoes now sport a 5-9 record. They play next when they travel to Crescenta Valley for a Pacific battle on Wednesday, April 25. Hoover will meet a Falcons squad coming off a 16-0 league win over Muir (Pasadena, CA). The Falcons record now stands at 12-5.
Game Summary
Despite a big day at the dish from Kaitlyn Williams, who finished 2-2, Hoover lost 16-6 to Burbank at McCambridge #2, Burbank, CA on Wednesday.
Two of Hoover's runs were scored thanks to timely hitting by Williams. She singled in the first inning and homered in the fifth inning.
Briana Manzanero had it working in the circle for Hoover. She allowed 14 earned runs over four innings. Manzanero gave up 14 hits while walking seven and striking out one.
Even though Crystal Diaz allowed six runs over five innings she still recorded the victory. The Burbank pitcher struck out one, walked two and surrendered nine hits.
Burbank hammered Hoover pitching as six hitters had a field day, combining for 12 hits, 14 RBIs and 11 runs scored.
