Virginia High School Soccer - Nottoway trounced by Amelia County
April 1, 2014: Amelia Court House, VA 23002 In Tuesday's league game, the Amelia County Raiders (Amelia Court House, VA) soccer squad overwhelmed the visiting Nottoway Cougars (Nottoway, VA), by a count of 4-0.
The Raiders (3-0) will now prepare for their bout against Goochland (Goochland, VA). The Bulldogs enter the 2A Conference 34 bout with a 3-0 record.
In their next game, the Cougars battle the Amelia County Raiders (Amelia Court House, VA) in a 2A Conference 34 bout, on Wednesday, April 30. Nottoway will attempt to move on its 0-1 season record.
Game Summary
Coming off of two back to back away matches, both victories, ACHS Raiders faced the Cougars of Nottoway in their home opener. WIthin the first 10 minutes ACHS caught Nottoway on their heels and was ahead by a goal. The Cougars did not lie down and continued to press the defense of Amelia. However at the end of the first half the Raiders were up 2-0. Goals were scored by Senior Shawn Webb and Junior Tyler Redman. In the second half, ACHS Junior Brian Emerson scored his first goal of the season, which another goal followed later on by Shawn Webb. The Raiders' defense stood strong against a very aggressive attack led by Junior goalkeeper David Cope who made 10 saves in this game alone. As the final whistle blew the score was 4-0 Amelia over Nottoway. Congratulations to another Raider victory that makes their record 3-0.
