California High School Baseball - Lakewood holds off Downey

March 20, 2010: Downey, CA 90241

Lakewood Lancers (Lakewood, CA) fans exited the stadium thrilled Saturday as they observed their baseball squad overcome the host Downey Vikings (Downey, CA), 18-14 in a non-league test.

With the win, Lakewood upgrades its record to 10-0 on the season. The Lancers host Millikan (Long Beach, CA) to battle the Rams in a Moore test on Wednesday, March 24. The Rams come into the test with a record of 3-5. Millikan won 4-3 in their recent non-league contest against St. Paul (Santa Fe Springs, CA)

The Vikings now sport a 4-5 record. They take the field next when they host Paramount for a San Gabriel contest on Tuesday, March 23. Downey will play a Pirates squad coming off a 6-0 league win over Lynwood (Lynwood, CA). The Pirates record now stands at 4-4.
