Alabama High School Football - Athens knocked off by Austin
September 23, 2011: Decatur, AL 35601 Austin Black Bears (Decatur, AL) boosters exited the stadium content Friday as they saw their football team knock off the visiting Athens Golden Eagles (Athens, AL), 42-14 in a non-league game.
The Black Bears (4-1) will now prepare for their game against Shades Valley (Birmingham, AL). The Mounties come into the 6A Region 7 game with a 0-5 record. In their last game, Shades Valley was knocked off by Hueytown (Hueytown, AL), 36-20, in a non-league game.
The Golden Eagles now sport a 2-3 record. They take the field next when they host Muscle Shoals for a 5A Region 8 game on Friday, September 30. Athens will battle a Trojans team coming off a 27-22 non-league loss to Florence (Florence, AL). The Trojans record now stands at 4-1.
