The Newton Railroaders (Newton, KS) basketball knocked off the visiting Valley Center Hornets (Valley Center, KS), 66-54 in Friday's non-league test.

The Railroaders (11-7) will now prepare for their test against Winfield (Winfield, KS). The Vikings go into the Ark Valley-Chisholm Trail Division II test with a 7-10 record.

The Hornets now own a 6-12 record. They take the field next when they travel to Haysville Campus for a Ark Valley-Chisholm Trail Division II test on Tuesday, February 24. Valley Center will encounter a Colts squad coming off a 55-44 league loss to McPherson (McPherson, KS). The Colts record now stands at 4-14.
