The Newton Cardinals basketball team scored 57 points and held the visiting Norwalk Warriors to 34 in the Cardinals league triumph on Friday.

The Cardinals now sport a 5-10 record. They put it on the line next when they host Chariton for a non-league contest on Monday, February 8. Newton will meet a Chargers team coming off a 41-39 league win over Centerville-Moulton-Udell (Centerville, IA). The Chargers record now stands at 8-8.

Next up, the Warriors play the Pella Christian Eagles (Pella, IA) in a Little Hawkeye bout, on Tuesday, February 9. Norwalk will attempt to upgrade on its 17-1 season record. The Eagles go into the bout with a 14-4 record after their 58-50 league win over Grinnell (Grinnell, IA).
