Missouri High School Basketball - Lafayette County falls to Wellington-Napoleon
January 4, 2011: Wellington, MO 64097 The Wellington-Napoleon Tigers basketball team scored 52 points and held the visiting Lafayette County Huskers to 32 in the Tigers non-league triumph on Tuesday.
The Tigers now sport a 2-5 record. They put it on the line next when they host Concordia for a non-league contest on Wednesday, January 5. Wellington-Napoleon will meet a Fighting Orioles team coming off a 37-35 league loss to Lone Jack (Lone Jack, MO). The Fighting Orioles record now stands at 1-2.
The Huskers (0-6) will now prepare for their contest against St. Paul Lutheran (Concordia, MO). The Saints enter the non-league contest with a 3-0 record.
Game Summary
I am so happy for our girls. We finally put 4 quarters of basketball together. It was a total team effort, we got big minutes from everyone and I was really happy with our defense. We were very patient on offense and took care of the ball. It is always good to win the first game in the tournament.
