April 20, 2011: Greenwich, CT 06830 Greenwich Cardinals (Greenwich, CT) fans exited the stadium thrilled Wednesday as they observed their baseball squad overcome the visiting Danbury Hatters (Danbury, CT), 8-0 in a league test.
With the win, Greenwich upgrades its record to 3-4 on the season. The Cardinals travel to Norwalk (Norwalk, CT) to battle the Bears in a non-league test on Saturday, April 23. The Bears come into the test with a record of 3-3.
With the defeat, Danbury falls to 5-2 on the season. The Hatters host Ridgefield (Ridgefield, CT) to battle the Tigers in a Fairfield County test on Monday, April 25. The Tigers come into the test with a record of 2-4.
Game Summary
Dylan Callahan scattered five singles over six innings to lead the Greenwich Cardinals to an 8-0 win over the Hatters on Wednesday. Taylor Olmstead and Cameron Fennell had three hits, while Casey Gaynor added a leadoff home run in the third. Robbie Meerman and Chris DelDebbio excelled in the field for Danbury, but the Hatters could not get the big hit with two on in the third and bases loaded in the fifth.
