Colorado High School Softball - Douglas County holds off Regis Jesuit
September 26, 2011: Castle Rock, CO 80104 Douglas County Huskies (Castle Rock, CO) backers exited the stadium thrilled Monday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Regis Jesuit Raiders (Aurora, CO), 9-7 in a league challenge.
The Huskies now own a 9-5 record. They take the field next when they travel to Heritage for a 5A Continental challenge on Wednesday, September 28. Douglas County will battle a Eagles squad coming off a 8-5 league loss to Highlands Ranch (Highlands Ranch, CO). The Eagles record now stands at 5-9.
With the loss, Regis Jesuit falls to 5-8 on the campaign. The Raiders host Castle View (Castle Rock, CO) to battle the Sabercats in a 5A Continental challenge on Wednesday, September 28. The Sabercats enter the challenge with a record of 8-6. Castle View lost 8-1 in their recent league challenge against Mountain Vista (Highlands Ranch, CO)
Game Summary
The Huskies rallied back in the 5th and 6th for a tough win after Regis jumped out to a 7-2 lead. Kelsey Anderson sparked the 4 run 5th with a bunt single and the Huskies rallied from there with hits from Morgan Ginger, Sierra Middlebrooks and Michelle Strang. Jocelyn Rockhold entered in the 5th inning a slammed the door shut for a victory.
