Ohio High School Basketball - Washington nudges Hoover
January 26, 2009: Massillon, OH 44646 In Monday's non-league outing, the Washington Tigers (Massillon, OH) basketball squad nipped the visiting Hoover Vikings (North Canton, OH), by a margin of 53-50.
The Tigers (10-5) will now prepare for their outing against St. Vincent-St. Mary (Akron, OH). The Fighting Irish go into the Freelance outing with a 9-4 record.
The Vikings now own a 5-11 record. They take the field next when they host GlenOak for a Federal outing on Saturday, January 31.
Fourth Quarter
Jen McFadden made a 10-footer with 15 seconds remaining to give Massillon a 1-point lead, and Natalie Maier made two free throws with eight seconds left to help the Tigers rally past Hoover in high school girls basketball action.
Overtime
Jaylene Taylor had 15 points and 15 rebounds for Massillon. McFadden also scored 15 points, including 11 points in the fourth quarter. Maier finished with 7 points and seven assists. The Vikings held a 9-point lead heading into the fourth quarter, but were outscored 20-8 in the final period.
