Smith Golden Eagles (Greensboro, NC) backers were in high spirits Thursday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the visiting Western Guilford Hornets (Greensboro, NC), 64-50 in a league bout.

With the win, Smith upgrades its record to 12-7 on the season. The Golden Eagles travel to Page (Greensboro, NC) to play the Pirates in a 4A Conference 8 bout on Monday, February 8. The Pirates go into the bout with a record of 11-8.

Next up, the Hornets play the Dudley Panthers (Greensboro, NC) in a 4A Conference 8 bout, on Tuesday, February 9. Western Guilford will attempt to upgrade on its 14-5 season record. The Panthers come into the challenge with a 15-6 record after their 96-49 league win over Southeast Guilford (Greensboro, NC).
