Delaware High School Basketball - Milford tipped by St. Elizabeth
January 28, 2010: Milford, DE 19963 The St. Elizabeth Vikings basketball team scored 81 points and held the host Milford Buccaneers to 76 in the Vikings non-league triumph on Thursday.
The Vikings now sport a 8-3 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Mount Pleasant for a non-league contest on Saturday, January 30. St. Elizabeth will confront a Green Knights team coming off a 63-54 league loss to Pencader (New Castle, DE). The Green Knights record now stands at 4-8.
The Buccaneers (9-4) will now prepare for their contest against Cape Henlopen (Lewes, DE). The Vikings enter the Henlopen - Northern contest with a 7-5 record.
First Quarter
Vikings point guard Tim Massado hit a 3 at the buzzer to tie the Milford Buccaneers in a defense laden first quarter.
Second Quarter
Freshmen Andre Patton and Sophmore Tim Massado each scored 10 points to lead the Vikings to a 22 point quarter and an 8 point halftime lead. Viking guard Kyle Hayman held Milford sharpshooter Marquis Jones to just 8 points in the half.
Third Quarter
Vikings senior captain Will Harmon scored 8 of his ten points in the 3rd quarter and held Milford high scorer Colby Shorts to just 4 points to help the Vikings maintain the lead.
Fourth Quarter
After Viking defender Kyle Hayman fouled out early in the 4th quarter, Marquis Jones went on to score 19 points to lead the Buccaneers to an overtime period to determine the outcome.
Overtime
Vikings Tim Massado"s 9 points and Craig Napier's 7 for 8 fould shooting carried the vikings to a 5 point win. Massado ended with 31 points and Andre Patton with 24 points and 24 rebounds.
