Mesquite Wildcats (Gilbert, AZ) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad nip the host Corona del Sol Aztecs (Tempe, AZ), 69-66 in a league bout.

With the win, Mesquite upgrades its record to 8-10 on the season. The Wildcats host Highland (Gilbert, AZ) to play the Hawks in a 5A Central bout on Tuesday, January 25. The Hawks go into the bout with a record of 7-11. Highland won 51-50 in their recent non-league bout against Salpointe Catholic (Tucson, AZ)

Next up, the Aztecs play the Mountain View Toros (Mesa, AZ) in a 5A Central bout, on Tuesday, January 25. Corona del Sol will attempt to upgrade on its 15-3 season record. The Toros go into the bout with a 16-2 record after their 68-38 league win over Dobson (Mesa, AZ).
