Pennsylvania High School Basketball - Friends' Central holds off Academy of the New Church

February 19, 2010: Wynnewoode, PA

Friends' Central (Wynnewoode, PA) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad nip the visiting Academy of the New Church Lions (Bryn Athyn, PA), 56-49 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Friends' Central upgrades its record to 22-2 on the season. The travel to Germantown Academy (Fort Washington, PA) to play the Patriots in a non-league bout on Saturday, February 20. The Patriots go into the bout with a record of 19-7. Germantown Academy won 51-36 in their recent league bout against Chestnut Hill Academy (Philadelphia, PA)

Next up, the Lions play the St. Anthony Friars (Jersey City, NJ) in a non-league bout, on Monday, February 22. Academy of the New Church will attempt to upgrade on its 13-8 season record. The Friars go into the bout with a 21-2 record after their 36-20 non-league win over Linden (Linden, NJ).
