New York High School Lacrosse - Friends Academy holds off Seaford
May 26, 2011: Locust Valley, NY 11560 The Friends Academy Quakers (Locust Valley, NY) lacrosse tipped the visiting Seaford Vikings (Seaford, NY), 9-8 in Thursday's non-league outing.
With the triumph, Friends Academy upgrades its record to 12-3 on the season.
With the defeat, Seaford drops to 12-5 on the season.
Game Summary
The first half was relatively high scoring (6-5) in favor of Seaford. The Vikings, as usual, were led on offense by Anthony Marino (2-2). Will Montgomery, Joe Richards and Kevin Glazer each contributed a goal and an assist, and Dan Arena, Brian Graziose and Tommy Curran all scored a goal. Justin Buckley controlled 75% of the face-off draws, as he has all season. Loose ball leaders were Arena, Marino and Victor Belgiorno. This was a very close, highly contested, seesaw game that wound up tied 8-8 at the end of regulation. Unfortunately, the game was decided by a man-up goal in the first overtime period where Friends was the beneficiary of 2 separate simultaneous one minute penalties called on Seaford (thus ending their season).
