Coming up next, the Wolves clash with the Winslow Bulldogs (Winslow, AZ) in a non-league test, on Saturday, May 11. Estrella Foothills will attempt to improve on its 32-2 season record. The Bulldogs come into the test with a 26-3 record after their 14-4 non-league win over Payson (Payson, AZ).
Game Summary
Wolves scored first after Taylor Godfrey managed to fight off several pitches before drawing a walk. After getting bunted to 2nd base, she scored on SaVonnah Osmanski's double to center field. The Wolves scored again in the 4th on a couple of Empire miscues.
Durham gave up a homer to Kelsey Smith in the 4th making the score 2-1.
Things got interesting in the 7th as 2 errors loaded the bases and with 2 outs, Smith retuned to the plate. After fouling off several pitches, Durham struck her out on an inside rise ball to end the game.
Alex Fedo, playing Center Field made 2 diving catches in the game, but none more important than in the 5th inning with runners in scoring position to get the last out in the inning.
