Kansas High School Basketball - Heights crushes South
February 26, 2009: Wichita, KS 67217 Heights Falcons (Wichita, KS) backers were in high spirits Thursday as they witnessed their basketball squad bounce the host South Titans (Wichita, KS), 73-46 in a non-league bout.
With the win, Heights upgrades its record to 19-1 on the season.
First Quarter
#1 ranked Heights made history by becoming the first city league team in 14 years to go undefeated in league play. Perry Ellis scored the first 8 points of the game and Heights battled to a 15-10 first quarter lead.
Second Quarter
Dorrian Roberts finished the half with 12 points including 2 3 pointers as Heights extended the lead to 34-21 at half.
Third Quarter
Ellis scored 13 points in the quarter as Heights extended the lead to 52-35.
Fourth Quarter
8 players scored in the final quarter and Heights earned a 73-46 win. Roberts finished with 15 and Ellis had 27 and 11 rebounds. Darrel Dempsey came off the bench to earn 11 rebounds and Evan Wessel delivered 10 assists and 6 rebounds. Ausitn Bahner contributed 2 3 pointers. Heights finishes the regular season at 19-1 and 16-0. They begin substate play next week.
