Florida High School Baseball - Fleming Island loses to Fletcher
April 26, 2012: Neptune Beach, FL 32266 In Thursday's league game, the host Fletcher Senators baseball team scored a tight 6-1 victory over the Fleming Island Golden Eagles.
The Senators (17-9) will now prepare for their game against Buchholz (Gainesville, FL). The Bobcats go into the non-league game with a 19-8 record. In their last game, Buchholz was overwhelmed by Chiles (Tallahassee, FL), 8-2, in a non-league game.
The Golden Eagles (19-8) will now prepare for their game against Chiles (Tallahassee, FL). The Timberwolves go into the non-league game with a 17-10 record. In their last game, Chiles tipped Buchholz (Gainesville, FL), 8-2, in a non-league game.
Game Summary
Fleming Island falls to Fletcher 6-1 in spite of Rast's performance in District finals.
Bryan Rast did all he could to give Fleming Island a boost, but it wasn't enough to get past Fletcher, as Fleming Island lost 6-1 in seven innings at First Coast on Friday.
Rast led Fleming Island's offensive threat, as he got on base three times in the game. He singled in the fifth and seventh innings.
Zach Pinchot recorded the win for Fletcher. He allowed one run over seven innings. The Fletcher pitcher struck out eight, walked three and surrendered five hits.
Fletcher was sparked by Tyler Deel and Seth Dewitt, who teamed up for seven hits and five RBIs.
Fletcher didn't relinquish the lead after scoring one run in the second inning when it scored on an RBI single by Justin Stephens.
Both teams move onto regionals next week. Fleming Island will travel to Tallahassee Chiles.
