Final 2017-18 high school boys basketball composite rankings

The Duke-bound standout for the Eagles was a big reason Montverde Academy was the nation's top team.

It's unanimous — Montverde Academy (Montverde, Fla.) is the No. 1 high school basketball team in the land.

Not that there was much argument, but with a 36-0 mark and a GEICO Nationals title under their belt, coach Kevin Boyle and the Eagles grabbed the top spot in the Final 2017-18 MaxPreps Composite Top 25 Basketball Rankings. The seven polls used to comprise the composite rankings all had Montverde residing in the penthouse.

Memphis East (Tenn.), University (Orlando, Fla.), DeMatha (Hyattsville, Md.) and Paul VI (Fairfax, Va.) round out the top five.

Only schools recognized by two or more media outlets are eligible for inclusion in the composite rankings. Teams were assigned a score of 30 for each media outlet that did not recognize them as part of their Top 25, rewarding teams that received consensus acclaim.
