MaxPreps 2015 Junior of the Year: Bradie Fillmore, Eagle (Idaho)

Fillmore led the Mustangs to a 30-1 record and the Idaho Class 5A state championship this past season. She was Idaho's Gatorade Softball Player of the Year.

Also named the Class 5A Southern Idaho Conference Player of the Year, Fillmore posted a 15-1 record with a 0.43 ERA and 179 strikeouts against just 12 walks in 98 innings pitched. Fillmore also batted .609 with 14 stolen bases, 14 home runs, 19 doubles, 61 runs scored and 71 RBIs, recording a .637 on-base percentage and a 1.174 slugging percentage.



"She is a great competitor," said Kevin Schimmelpfennig, head coach of rival Vallivue High. "Offensively, she is by far the toughest hitter we faced all year. Every ball she puts into play is hit hard. We played Eagle twice and I watched them play in the state tournament, and Bradie was by far the best player on the field. She is the complete package on the field."

Fillmore, who plays shortstop when she is not pitching, has committed to the University of California.

MaxPreps 2015 Sophomore of the Year: Kendall Beth Sides, Sumiton Christian (Ala.)

Sides led the nation in hits (116), runs scored (97) and stolen bases (111) when she batted .612 and drove in 48 runs. She also pitched 114 innings and posted a 20-5 record as Sumiton Christian captured the state 2A title. Sumiton Christian won its final 17 games en route to 47 wins. Sides has committed to Alabama.

She put her name in the National Federation of State High Schools Associations Record Book with her 97 runs, setting a new national record (the record was 83). Her 111 stolen bases were third-best in a single season (117 is the record). The career mark for runs scored is 278 and the career mark for stolen bases is 320. In two seasons – and with two seasons remaining at Sumiton Christian – Sides has scored 189 runs and swiped 287 bases.

And according to the NFHS, the national record for career base hits is 365. Sides has 227.



MaxPreps 2015 Freshman of the Year: Kayla Boseman, Ooltewah (Tenn.)

Boseman was named the 3A Miss East Tennessee Softball. The dominant pitcher and cleanup hitter has already committed to play collegiately for the University of Mississippi. She led the Owls (40-10) to a third-place 3A finish. Boseman excelled in the circle and at the plate. She hit 13 homers, 15 doubles, four triples and drove in 68 runners this season. She also went 22-4 as a pitcher, and struck out 241 batters in 161 innings. Her ERA was 1.46.

Junior All-American Team

P - Ashlee Swindle, Curry (Jasper, Ala.)
Swindle led Curry to the 4A state title with a 43-5 record, 0.22 ERA and 327 strikeouts. She was named to Alabama Super-State Team, as well as being named the 4A State Pitcher and Player of the Year. She also batted .345 with a team-high 45 RBIs. She has committed to Auburn.

P - Arissa Paulson, Payson (Ariz.)
Paulson posted a 26-2 record along with a 0.41 ERA in leading the Longhorns (34-2) to the D-3 state title game. She struck out 375 batters in 170 innings, allowing just 64 hits and 19 walks. The D-3 Player of the Year, she recorded 18 shutouts, including six no-hitters. Paulson batted .544 with 11 home runs and 59 RBIs. She finished the year with a .580 on-base percentage and a 1.097 slugging percentage. She has committed to BYU.

P - Morgan White, Forest (Ocala, Fla.)
White struck out 335 batters this season and won 29 games, pitching to a 1.73 ERA and leading the Wildcats to the state 6A title. She was equally dominant at the plate, hitting .410, driving in 58 RBIs and hitting a dozen home runs. White was named Florida's Miss Softball.

P - Miranda Elish, Crown Point (Ind.)
Elish, who has committed to Oregon, led the Bulldogs to a 29-3 season with a 15-1 record, 0.65 ERA and had 198 strikeouts in 107 innings. She allowed 39 base hits, seven fewer than she collected. Elish, who was named Indiana's Gatorade POY, also batted .479 and drove in 32 runs.



P - Jordyn Kleman, Logan (La Crosse, Wis.)
Kleman's numbers — 22-1 record, 0.35 ERA, 314 strikeouts and just 16 walks in 159 innings – led Logan to the state 2A title and a 28-1 record. She hit .404 with team-highs in doubles (11), triples (3), home runs (7) and RBIs (33).

P - Nicole Williams, St. Joseph (Trumbull, Conn.)
Williams went 23-0 with 213 strikeouts in 138 innings, a 0.66 ERA and a .438 batting average in leading her team to the state Class M title (26-0).

C - Bailey Hemphill, St. Thomas More (Lafayette, La.)
Hemphill was walked 49 times in only 25 games as opponents tried to avoid her bat, but she still hit .489 and clubbed nine homers with a .758 on-base percentage.  A 4A all-state pick, Hemphill is also a three-time all-district catcher and was a second-team all-district selection in basketball. As a sophomore, she hit .630 with 17 homers and led her team to a state title.

C - Kayla Konwent, Westosha Central (Salem, Wis.)
Konwent led the Falcons to a 28-4 record and a berth in the D-1 state final. The returning Division 1 Player of the Year as named by the Wisconsin Fastpitch Softball Coaches Association, Konwent batted .627 with a state-record 21 home runs to go along with 35 runs scored and 46 RBIs. A two-time WFSCA First Team All-State Team honoree, Konwent worked 37 walks and collected 26 extra-base hits, recording a .681 on-base percentage and 1.486 slugging percentage. She has committed to Wisconsin.

C - Teaghan Cowles, Columbia River (Vancouver, Wash.)
Committed to Stanford, Cowles led CRHS into the state tournament after hitting over .500 for the third-straight season.

IF - Taylor Coachman, Dr. Krop (Miami)
Coachman needed only 22 games to hit .740 with 63 RBIs, 54 hits, 44 runs and 25 extra-base hits. She had a 1.369 slugging percentage.



IF - Samantha Owen, East Union (Manteca, Calif.)
Owen batted .643 and had 61 RBIs to lead East Union to the CIF-Sac Joaquin Section D-3 (30-3). She hit .643 with 51 runs, 72 hits, 61 RBIs, nine homers and 13 doubles.

IF - LaShara James, Bayshore (Bradenton, Fla.)
James led the area with a .683 batting average with six homers, four triples, eight doubles and a team-high 38 RBIs. She stole 25 bases and scored 29 runs while playing catcher, outfield and second base for the Bruins. She has committed to Southern Florida.

IF - Reyna Carranco, Oxnard (Calif.)
Carranco batted .650 with 53 RBIs, 40 runs, 16 homers and was the Pacific View League Player of the Year as well as being chosen to the first-team All-CIF Southern Section Team.

IF - BreOnna Castaneda, Rio Rancho (N.M.)
Castaneda led the Rams (23-8) to the Class 6A state championship this past season. She owned a .558 batting average with nine home runs, 41 runs scored and 48 RBIs. A two-time first-team All-Metro Team honoree, she also posted a .617 on-base percentage and stole 25 bases.

OF - Hannah Edwards, Catasauqua (Pa.)
Edwards set a state record for stolen bases with 57 (twice she stole six in a game) and also had 57 base hits in batting .687 and scoring 40 times.

OF - Tianna Batts, Alexander Central (Taylorsville, N.C.)
Batts batted .602 with 53 hits and was a perfect 43-for-43 in stolen base attempts as the Cougars went 29-1. She has played in only one losing game in high school. She has committed to Tennessee.



OF - Jycie Walker, Headland (Ala.)
Walker was a Dothan Eagle Super 12 selection who had a .606 batting average and .699 on-base percentage. She hit nine home runs with 14 doubles while driving in 51 runs and scoring 50 runs. She walked 33 times and struck out only five times in 143 at-bats in helping her team to a 33-10 record. She was named the Class 4A Hitter of the Year for the state.

OF - Mia Camuso, Shasta (Redding, Calif.)
Camuso's power numbers included a CIF Northern Section record of 16 homers plus 61 RBIs and a .604 batting average. She captured the Northern Section's Triple Crown. She has committed to Oregon.

UTIL - Kenna DeLancey, Ritchie County (Ellenboro, W. Va.)
DeLancey (16-1, 0.67 ERA, 133 strikeouts in 84.1 innings) was named the 2A Player of the Year for the second year in a row as the Rebels reached the state title game. She also concluded her junior year hitting .602 with 11 doubles, three triples, 12 homers and 48 RBIs to go along with 34 stolen bases and a 1.205 slugging percentage.

UTIL - Madilyn Nickles, Merced (Calif.)
Nickles pitched five no-hitters, including four in conference play, and was 22-6 with a 1.18 ERA and 287 strikeouts in 178 innings. She is the only junior on the USA Junior National Team. She has committed to UCLA.

UTIL - Maribeth Gorsuch, Lewisville (Texas)
Gorsuch was 24-5 — giving her a career record of 66-15 — and the junior finished the season with a 0.90 ERA and 343 strikeouts in 210 innings. Gorsuch led Lewisville in batting average (.463), hits (50), doubles (14), home runs (8) and RBIs (32). She has committed to LSU.

UTIL - Cayla Drotar, Hartsville (S.C.)
Drotar led the Red Foxes (29-3) to the Class 3A state championship series this past season. The state's returning Gatorade Softball Player of the Year, Drotar posted a 21-3 record and a 0.68 ERA in the circle, along with a .635 batting average, 14 home runs and 62 RBIs at the plate. A five-time all-state selection, she struck out 209 batters in 143.2 innings pitched, allowing just 48 hits. A 2014 MaxPreps Underclass All-American, she has committed to South Carolina.



Sophomore All-American Team

P - Holly Azevedo, Pioneer (San Jose, Calif.)
Named the San Jose Mercury News POY, Azevedo went 28-1 with a 0.04 ERA and allowed only 55 hits and 24 walks in 177 innings while striking out 256. Her only loss was the final game of the season – the only game in which an earned run was scored against her. She has committed to UCLA.

P - Lainey Stephenson, Veritas Prep (Phoenix)
Stephenson struck out 468 batters in 186 innings to go with a 0.45 ERA and 26-4 record. She walked just 15 batters and limited opponents to a .076 batting average. She also batted a team-high .478 with 31 RBIs. Veritas lost 1-0 in the state semifinals to eventual champion Superior.

P - Meghan Beaubien, St. Mary Catholic Central (Monroe, Mich.)
Beaubien has led the Kestrels (36-5) to the D-3 state title and threw a no-hitter in the title game. In compiling a 28-3 record, Beaubien threw 10 no-hitters and struck out more than 400 batters on the season. Named Michigan's Gatorade Softball POY, she has committed to Michigan.

P - Allison Muraskin, Coral Springs Charter (Fla.)
Muraskin struck out 293 and posted a 0.52 ERA in leading Coral Springs Charter to the state 4A title. She has committed to Central Florida.

P - Aubree Fritzinger, Parkland (Allentown, Pa.)
Fritzinger, who was 27-1 with 1.31 ERA with just 28 walks in 161 innings, was named the PIAA Class 4A Player of the Year by the Pennsylvania High School Softball Coaches Association.

P - Julia Jensen, Reed (Sparks, Nev.)
Jensen led the Raiders (37-2) to the D-1 state championship. She posted a 34-2 record and a 0.80 ERA in the circle, along with a .477 batting average, seven home runs and 43 RBIs at the plate. The Las Vegas Review-Journal Player of the Year and a first-team all-state honoree, she struck out 346 batters in 211 innings. Jensen was also named the Northern Nevada D-1 Player of the Year. She has committed to Nevada.



P - Kaitlin Beasley-Polko, Leonardtown (Md.)
Beasley-Polko had 357 strikeouts (13 times with 16 or more in a game with a season high of 24), 20-3 record (14 shutouts), and two of her three losses were by 1-0 margins, the last two to state champion Sherwood. She has committed to Coastal Carolina.

P - Kelsey Oh, Mount St. Dominic Academy (Caldwell, N.J.)
Oh posted a 26-2 record with one save, a 0.25 ERA and 310 strikeouts in 170 innings in leading the Lions (29-2) to the Non-Public A North semifinals. Oh batted .474 with three home runs, 10 runs scored and 26 RBIs, recording a .561 on-base percentage and .632 slugging percentage. She has committed to Boston College.

C - Taylor Johnson, Beecher (Ill.)
Johnson batted .624 with 15 home runs, 50 RBIs and 58 runs scored this past season, leading the Bobcats (24-7) to the Class 2A sectional semifinals. A returning first-team all-area selection as named by the Chicago Sun-Times, Johnson worked 24 walks and collected 31 extra-base hits, recording a .706 on-base percentage and a 1.312 slugging percentage. Johnson, who has committed to Wisconsin, was the state's Gatorade POY for softball.

C - Sydney Cross, Mt. Shasta (Calif.)
Cross was a first-team, at-large pick as a catcher where she finished third in the CIF Northern Section section with a .615 average. She hit 10 home runs and had 53 RBIs and was named the Shasta Cascade League MVP for the second-straight season.

IF - Reese Guevarra, Immaculate Heart Academy (Washington Township, N.J.)
Guevarra built on a successful freshman season for Immaculate Heart Academy by batting .563 with a school-record 67 hits and 52 runs scored from the leadoff spot to spark the offense and help lead the Blue Eagles to their state-record 10th Non-Public A state softball title. She has committed to Connecticut.

IF - Haley Cashwell, Cape Fear (Fayetteville, N.C.)
Cashwell, who has committed to UNC-Wilmington, batted .675, scored 55 runs and had 54 base hits as Cape Fear went 23-1.



IF - Livy Schiele, Bishop's (La Jolla, Calif.)
Schiele batted .621, scored 52 times, had 24 RBIs, knocked 15 extra-base hits, stole 26 bases without getting caught and did not strike out during the season. She had two or more base hits 18 times. She has committed to Auburn.

IF - Briana Perez, Alhambra (Martinez, Calif.)
The UCLA commit and Diablo Foothill Athletic League MVP batted .608 with 14 home runs, 42 RBIs, six triples and six doubles for the CIF North Coast Section D-2 champion Bulldogs.

OF - JoJo McRae, Lovejoy (Lucas, Texas)
McRae had a team-leading .538 batting average and tied for second in the Dallas area in hits with 63. She was an all-state selection and first-team all-area pick, and she helped Lovejoy reach the Class 5A Region 2 final.

OF - Sammy Fabian, Glendale (Calif.)
Fabian batted a team-best .615 (48-for-78) with six doubles, four triples, 32 runs, 16 RBIs and 17 stolen bases. In addition, Fabian has hit safely in each of the 45 games she's played in for the Nitros to go along with a sizzling 1.484 OPS. She was a firstteam CIF All-SS Team pick.

OF - Julie Rodriguez, Northern Valley (Old Tappan, N.J.)
The UCLA commit batted .653 with 21 extra-base hits and 30 RBIs. Her slugging percentage was 1.167 in leading Northern Valley to a high state ranking and 17-14 record.

OF - Payton Calderon, Ralls (Texas)
The Lone Star Varsity Softball Newcomer of the Year hit .747 with 10 homers, 18 doubles and 61 RBIs.



UTIL - Jenna Ergle, Sumiton Christian (Ala.)
Alabama's top 2A player and MaxPreps 2014 Freshman of the Year, Ergle drove in 103 runs, scored 71 and had 80 base hits while batting .519 to lead Sumiton Christian to the state 2A title. She was named to Alabama's Super-State Team. She also had a slugging percentage of .967 and was 25-5in the circle. She has committed to Boston College.

UTIL - Annie Willis, Westminster Christian (Huntsville, Ala.)
Willis had 40 wins and 495 strikeouts (286 innings) to go with a 0.83 ERA. She pitched 30 shutouts. She also batted .385 and drove in 51 runs. She has committed to Troy University.

UTIL - Grace Baalman, Calhoun (Hardin, Ill.)
Baalman supplied the power in the circle (34 wins, 428 strikeouts) and at the plate (19 homers, 17 doubles and 69 RBIs) en route to a state D-1 championship. The Calhoun sophomore pitched 48 innings in postseason games for Calhoun and allowed only seven hits, seven walks and struck out 106 batters. She had an amazing 0.16 ERA.

Freshman All-American Team

P - Sidney Nester, Carroll County (Hillsville, Va.)
Nester went 20-0 with a 0.75 ERA while striking out 235 batters (121 innings) and only walking 24 in leading Carroll County to the state 4A title. She gave up just 60 hits for the year and allowed just 15 earned runs. She was Carroll's second-leading hitter with a batting average of .455.

P - Montana Fouts, East Carter (Grayson, Ky.)
An Alabama commit, Fouts fanned 223 batters in 131 innings and had a sub-0.20 ERA in winning 19 of 21 decisions. She hit .587 with 44 RBIs as East Carter went 27-6. She has been on the varsity team since sixth grade.

P - Danielle Williams, Amador Valley (Pleasanton, Calif.)
Williams, who has committed to Missouri, had a 24-3 record with a 0.79 ERA and a .532 batting average with 41 hits in leading the Dons to a second-straight CIF NCS Division I championship.



P - Brooke Vestal, Canyon (New Braunfels, Texas)
Committed to Oklahoma, Vestal posted a 24-5 pitching record and 348 strikeouts. She threw four no-hitters, seven one-hitters, six two-hitters and three three-hitters and struck out 18 in a playoff game. She was 6A all-state and All-District 25-6A Team MVP.

P - Hannah James, East Jessamine (Nicholasville, Ky.)
James posted a 1.19 ERA and a 29-6 record to go with 309 strikeouts in 218 innings. She also batted .378 with eight homers and 41 RBIs as the Jaguars went unbeaten in district play and finished 33-8 overall.

P - Tristan Bridges, Krum (Texas)
Bridges had 25 wins, 265 strikeouts and a 1.05 ERA in leading Krum to a 31-6 season. She also batted .384 with 25 RBIs.

P - Hannah Poole, Walton (DeFuniak Springs, Fla.)
Poole recorded a 24-3 record, 0.54 ERA and in 181 innings struck out 278 batters as Walton reached the regional finals.

P - Tessa Sims, Hauser (Hope, Ind.)
Sims led Hauser to the state Class A title with a 21-3 record. James struck out 278 in 144 innings with a 0.78 ERA.

C - Aspyn Godwin, Daphne (Ala.)
Godwin led the state with 19 home runs along with 84 runs scored, 93 hits, 24 doubles and 24 stolen bases to lead Daphne deep into the state 6A playoffs.



C - Allysa Shipman, Valencia (Calif.)
Shipman earned first-team all-Foothill League and all-CIF Southern Section honors. The Tennessee recruit hit .506 with 10 homers and 35 RBIs.

IF - Grace Lyons, O'Connor (Phoenix)
Lyons batted .419 and was second on the team in runs (46), hits (54) and RBIs (40). She had 19 extra-base hits as 34-7 O'Connor won the state large school championship. She has committed to Oklahoma.

IF - Maeve Nelson, Oak Park-River Forest (Oak Park, Ill.)
Nelson, who has committed to Northwestern, batted .508 with 56 runs, 15 doubles and 36 RBIs. She was the only freshman named to the Illinois 4A All-State Team.

IF - Kaitlin Kelley, Lexington (Tenn.)
Kelley made an impact with 78 RBIs, 50 runs, a .477 batting average and 19 home runs as the Tigers went 45-8 and reached the state 2A quarterfinals.

IF - Jess Indelicato, Bethlehem Catholic (Pa.)
The 4-foot-9 fielding dynamo batted .498, stole 16 bases and led Bethlehem Catholic to the state 3A title.

IF - Maggie Bucholz, Silverton (Ore.)
Bucholz hit .688 with a .712 on-base percentage and .946 slugging percentage. She had 14 doubles, five triples, scored 36 runs and had 31 RBIs and was first-team all-Mid-Willamette Conference, Mid-Willamette Conference co-Offensive Player of the Year and first-team Class 5A all-state.



OF - Alex Burns, Baldwin (N.Y.)
Burns led her team to a 16-3 record with 50 RBIs, 40 runs, a .679 batting average and 11 home runs in 53 at-bats. Her slugging percentage was 1.528 and her OPS was 2.257.

OF - Frankie Hammoude, Bishop O'Dowd (Oakland, Calif.)
In her debut prep season, Hammoude batted .525 with nine home runs, nine triples, nine doubles and 49 RBIs in 26 games, leading the Dragons to the CIF NCS D-3 title.

OF - Rachel Hammons, Bourgade Catholic (Phoenix)
Hammons batted .790 (83-for-105) and scored 76 times. She drove in 38 runs and was 68-for-69 in stolen base attempts. With 18 walks, her on base percentage was .821.

UTIL - Cassidy Cangemi, Albert Einstein Academy (Santa Clarita, Calif.)
Cangemi had big numbers in the box (.700 batting average, 58 RBIs, 13 home runs) and in the circle (205 strikeouts in just 92 innings and a 0.84 ERA to go with a 14-3 record).

UTIL - Noemi Farfan, Calvary Christian Academy (Chula Vista, Calif.)
Farfan won 20 games and struck out 286 in 115 innings. She also batted .753 with 93 RBIs, 61 hits and 65 runs in 24 games. Farfan had 63 stolen bases in as many attempts and had 39 extra-base hits, including 27 doubles, as Calvary Christian Academy reached the CIF San Diego Section final.

UTIL - Karlee Kraft, Aquinas (Hammond, La.)
Kraft had a major impact in leading Aquinas to a deep playoff run after she won 22 games and drove in 58 runs.
