Missouri middle school pulls off incredible trick play.
Lewis and Clark Middle School recently pulled off one of the finest trick plays in football.
Meet "The Ugly Kardashian."
In a recent game against Thomas Jefferson Middle School, Lewis and Clark center Josh Copeland hands the ball to quarterback Atiq Muhammad on the first play from scrimmage, after Thomas Jefferson failed to recover an onside kick to start the game.
Muhammad raises the ball up and pretends that the team accidentally grabbed the wrong ball for game use, following the confusion after the onside kick attempt.
Muhammad calmly walks past the defensive line and points in the direction of the ref. He then suddenly springs toward the end zone for a surprising--and controversial--touchdown.
Lewis and Clark head coach Shawn Griggs told MaxPreps he was inspired by trick play "The Annexation of Puerto Rico" of Little Giants fame.
"[I] wanted something catchy and funny, and always loved the name of the trick play from Little Giants," he said.
Thus, "The Ugly Kardashian" was born.
"When I said it the first time in the huddle they wouldn't stop laughing," Griggs said. "I threatened to change the name of it because they would laugh everytime I said it."
Griggs said the laughter of the players wasted time at practice, but it was worth it.
"Football is supposed to be fun," he said. "So the name stayed."
