Chazz Surratt of East Lincoln named Player of the Year; Brock's Chad Worrell is Coach of the Year.

Although an injury brought an early end to his season, Chazz Surratt of East Lincoln (Denver, N.C.) still managed to prove himself as one of the nation's best quarteracks, regardless of school size.

In leading East Lincoln to a 30-1 record over the past two seasons, including a North Carolina Class 2A state title in 2014, Surratt showcased passing and rushing skills that allowed him to break one of the seemingly unbreakable state records in North Carolina. Surratt finished his career with 219 touchdowns accounted for, breaking the record of 216 previously held by Independence (Charlotte, N.C.) legend Chris Leak.

Surratt suffered an injury in the playoffs and played sparingly in East Lincoln's last two games. The Mustangs were eliminated by eventual state champion Monroe 46-6 in the semifinals. Nevertheless, Surratt still earned all-state honors by NC Preps and the Associated Press.

Surratt adds MaxPreps Small Schools National Player of the Year to the list as he heads the 2015 Small Schools All-American Team.

Meanwhile, Chad Worrell of Brock (Texas) has only been the head varsity coach at the school for three seasons, but that's only because Brock is just in its third year of fielding a varsity team. Nevertheless, Worrell led Brock to a 16-0 record and a Class 3A-I state championship with a 43-33 win over three-time defending state champion Cameron Yoe. Brock also led the entire state of Texas in points scored with 888.

Worrell thus earns the honor of MaxPreps Small Schools National Coach of the Year.

The Small Schools All-American team consists of 30 players on first and second teams. The players are chosen from schools that play in state enrollment divisions that are generally under 1,000 students. All players are seniors unless otherwise noted.
