Top 25 national high school football composite rankings

It wasn't as easy as last year, but for the second straight year Mater Dei (Santa Ana, Calif.) left no doubt who the kings of California are. The Monarchs defeated De La Salle (Concord, Calif.) 35-21 in the CIF Open Division state title game on Saturday. In the process, Mater Dei remains atop the Top 25 Composite rankings, a near-unanimous choice by the five services. Only USA Today has Allen (Texas) atop its rankings as the Eagles continue to play in the UIL semifinals this week.
Newcomers to the rankings this week include Lakeland (Fla.), John Curtis Christian (River Ridge, La.) and Broken Arrow (Okla.) after their state titles.
Only schools recognized by two or more media outlets are eligible for
inclusion in the composite rankings. Teams were assigned a score of 40
for each media outlet that did not recognize them as part of their Top
25, rewarding teams that received consensus acclaim.
