St. Rita were successful in their last outing against St. Laurence, and they didn't afford St. Laurence any payback this time around. St. Rita blew past St. Laurence 35-7.
St. Rita's offense rushed out of the gates and came up with 21 first-half points. St. Laurence wasn't quite able to keep up, scoring 7 to make it 21-7 heading into the break. The St. Rita defense stood its ground in the third quarter, giving up 0 and all but finishing the match.
Among those leading the charge for St. Rita was senior Javon Venson, who picked up 116 yards on the ground. The victory bumped their record up to 2-5. The loss dropped St. Laurence's record to 2-5.
St. Rita will be playing at home against Loyola Academy at at 7:30 PM next week. As for St. Laurence, they will face off against Chicago Mt. Carmel. St. Laurence's defense better steel itself: Chicago Mt. Carmel are averaging 32.17 points per game.
