Wylie (Abilene, Texas) grabbed a lead in the first quarter and rode that momentum to a 38-6 win over Bridgeport (Texas).
In the first quarter, the Bulldogs put up 14 points. Wylie scored on a rushing touchdown and a touchdown run.
After taking the lead on a rushing touchdown in the first quarter, WHS led 31-0 at the half.
The Abilene school grew its lead to 38 points entering the fourth quarter. The Bulldogs scored once in the quarter on a passing touchdown.
Bridgeport's only touchdown came on a 6-yard pass from Trey Cook to Raby Hawkins in the fourth quarter.
The victory was a step in the right direction for Wylie, which was coming off a 38-0 defeat at the hands of Argyle in its previous game.
Bridgeport (0-2) will play a non-conference game against Iowa Park next week, while Wylie (1-1) will take on Graham also in a non-conference game.
