Kaleb Johnson added three as well as
Grand Junction (Colo.) defeated Durango (Colo.) 49-10 on Saturday.
After taking the lead on a Johnson touchdown run in the first quarter, the Tigers led 42-3 at the half.
Grand Junction expanded its lead to 46 points entering the fourth quarter. GJ's lone score in the quarter came on a touchdown run by Johnson.
The Demons' Jeremy Szura played well. The junior quarterback ran for one touchdown. His performance brought his touchdown total to two on the year.
Durango's lone touchdown came on a 7-yard run by Szura in the fourth quarter.
Led by
Austin Berk, the Tigers went into the matchup giving up only 15.8 points per game. DHS's 10 points were below its season average of 16.0 per game.
A 41-6 Grand Junction victory was the result when the squads faced off last season.
The win was a nice bounce back for GJ, which lost to Fruita Monument last week, 20-14.
Grand Junction (5-2) will play a 4A/5A Southwest game against Montrose next week, while Durango (2-4) will take on Grand Junction Central also in a 4A/5A Southwest game.
