If the MaxPreps state rankings hold true, the near future looks bright for Mayfair. On Friday they take on Gahr at 7:00 PM. Mayfair strut in flaunting some offensive muscle with an average of 30.2 points per game.
After having lost a blowout to Santa Margarita in their previous match, Mayfair were happy to find some success last Friday. Mayfair won a game that couldn't have been any closer, slipping by Warren 35-34. Sophomore Tstrong Mataele and senior Joshua Calvin were among the main playmakers for Mayfair as the former rushed for 112 yards and 2 touchdowns and the latter passed for 131 yards and 2 touchdowns. Near the top of the highlight reel was Calvin's 79-yard TD bomb to Chris Adimora in the fourth quarter.
Meanwhile, Gahr were close but not close enough as they fell 28-31 to St. Anthony. It was a tough break for Gahr, who improved upon an already decent score from the game before but lost both times.
Mayfair's win lifted them to 4-1 while Gahr's loss dropped them down to 1-3. We'll see if Mayfair's success rolls on or if Gahr are able to steal their positive momentum.
