East Yosemite recap November 5, 2013
Adding to the longest winning streak in East Yosemite this week, Mission Oak beat Tulare Union 27-7. The win marks ninth in a row for the the Hawks.
Tulare Western took down Monache 38-17 last week, the largest margin of any game. Kobe Portillo threw for 276 yards and 1 touchdown and ran for 23 yards in the win.
Delano's dynamic duo of David Ibarra and Jose Ayon proved tough for Porterville to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Ibarra threw for 169 yards and 2 touchdowns and Ayon had 126 yards receiving. Adan Cruz helped Delano's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 43 yards.
Portillo was a passing and rushing force as the Mustangs defeated the Marauders. Portillo's key target this week was Javier Ceja, who caught 4 passes for 93 yards.
Tanner Rother made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Redskins lost to Mission Oak. The 5-foot-7 defensive back recorded 1 fumble.
5-foot-10 quarterback Portillo of Tulare Western is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1,442. He has also thrown 11 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Lalo Nevarez. The Porterville star has 33 catches for 782 yards.
The Tigers are currently in fifth, while Mark Gambini's team is in first.
The Panthers led the league in scoring this week by notching 43 points on Delano. Austin Hefner ran for 170 yards and caught 2 passes for 33 yards during the win.
