Dolores (Colo.) didn't let up as Saturday's game came to a close, scoring 27 in the fourth quarter to seal a 34-0 victory over Del Norte (Colo.).
After taking the lead on an
Ethan Upton touchdown pass to
Guy Wallace in the first quarter, the Bears led 7-0 at the half.
Dolores put up 27 points in the fourth quarter en route to the win. DHS scored on a defensive touchdown, a
Jalen Balderrama touchdown run, a touchdown run by Upton and a touchdown pass by Upton in the quarter.
The victory is a complete turnaround from last season's game between these two teams, which the Tigers took, 45-20.
The victory was a step in the right direction for the Bears, who were coming off a 48-6 defeat at the hands of Paonia in its previous game. The win broke Dolores' three-game losing streak.
In a 1A Southern Peaks game next week Del Norte (0-5) takes on Monte Vista, and Dolores (1-3) will go up against Center also in a 1A Southern Peaks game.
