Tucker Israel, a freshman quarterback from Lake Nona (Orlando, Fla.), tied the national 11-man record this week when he fired 10 touchdown passes during a 68-10 football victory over Celebration (Fla.) on Friday.
The 6-foot, 180-pounder had eight scoring tosses in the first half to tie the state record, which originally was established in 1998 and tied in 2008. Five of his scoring passes were hauled in by Ryan Sousa.
Tucker now leads the Orlando area with 24 touchdown passes.
"Me and the coach (Anthony Paradiso) thought we had something special planned tonight," Israel told the Orlando Sentinel. "We weren't thinking that, but as soon as the first half ended, and I had eight, we decided to go for it (the record). It was pretty awesome. The offensive line really helped out and receivers blocked down field for the other receivers. The defense got a lot of three-and-outs so we could get the ball back."
