Winthrop/Monmouth Academy had to kick off their season with an away game, and unfortunately wound up with a long bus ride home. They found themselves the relunctant recipients of an unpleasant 6-38 punch to the gut against Spruce Mountain on Friday. If Winthrop/Monmouth Academy were hoping to take revenge for the 8-34 loss against Spruce Mountain the last time the teams met, then they were left disappointed. The game leaves both teams with the exact same record at 0-0.
Winthrop/Monmouth Academy will be defending their home turf for the first time next week when they go up against Oak Hill at 7:00 PM. Spruce Mountain are packing up and heading on the road for the first time this season. They face off against Lake Region next week at 7:00 PM.
