Butler (Matthews, N.C.) had a big 28-point second quarter on Saturday, sealing a 49-6 victory over Myers Park (Charlotte, N.C.).
The Bulldogs scored on a touchdown run by
Josh Glisson, a
Uriah Lemay touchdown run, a touchdown pass by Glisson to
Anthony Ratliff and a defensive touchdown in the quarter.
Butler was up 42-6 at the half after taking the lead on a touchdown in the first quarter.
BHS expanded its lead to 43 points entering the fourth quarter. The Matthews school scored once in the quarter on a touchdown run by
Benjamin Lemay.
Glisson was the top performer for the Bulldogs. The senior running back threw one touchdown and ran for three touchdowns.
The Mustangs' lone touchdown came on a defensive play in the first quarter.
Butler also won the meeting between the two teams last season, 77-14.
The loss comes after Myers Park defeated North Mecklenburg 36-32 last week. With the win BHS extended its winning streak to four games.
Myers Park (2-3) will play a 4A Southwestern game against East Mecklenburg next week, while Butler (4-0) will take on Rocky River also in a 4A Southwestern game.
