Texas Tops Oklahoma in 70th Annual Oil Bowl
Texas scored 31 unanswered points to defeat Oklahoma, 31-16, in the 70th Annual Oil Bowl at Memorial Stadium in Wichita Falls, Texas. The victory gave the Lone Star State a 44-17-1 advantage in the series.
In the first half, it appeared Oklahoma might have the upper hand. The Sooner State All-Stars stormed out to a 9-0 lead.
Texas responded with flawless execution of the two-minute drill before intermission, capped off by a 32-yard scoring strike from Arkansas recruit Nathan Dick to Oklahoma State bound Hubert Anyiam, giving the Lone Star State All-Stars a 10-9 halftime lead.
Dick and SMU-bound Logan Turner of Springtown combined for 310 passing yards and three touchdowns. Mesquite receiver Krys Buerck took home offensive MVP honors after grabbing six passes for 124 yards.
Oklahoma quarterback Brock Feldmann had an opportunity to shave the Texas lead in the second half, but fumbled on a quarterback sneak attempt giving possession and momentum back to the Texas squad.
Feldmann, from Mustang, completed 9-of-19 passing for 143 yards. High school teammate David Balenseifen had 59 receiving yards on just two receptions.

Terrence Boyd Returning to Norman?
According to a June 22 article by the Norman Transcript, one of the nation's top prospects in the Class of 2009 appears to be coming home.
Terrence Boyd, who averaged 16.5 points and 9.2 rebounds per game as a freshman for Norman, transferred to national powerhouse Oak Hill Academy for his sophomore season, averaging 7.8 points per game as the sixth-man.
Boyd has been pegged at a top 40 player nationally in the class of 2009, according to CSTV, and will join Kyle Hardrick, the 29th best player in the same class.
Boyd and Hardrick join Putnam City star Xavier Henry (No. 5) and Daniel Orton (No. 32) as fellow Oklahomans in the CSTV Top 50 of the Class of 2009. All four players currently play AAU basketball for Athletes First.
With Boyd and Hardrick on the roster, it will make Norman one of the favorites to unseat Midwest City as the Class 6A state champions. Hardwick, who is already committed to Oklahoma, fought off a serious knee injury suffered last summer to average 9.1 points and 7.7 rebounds for the Tigers.
Lacy Ramon Also Headed to Norman
Lacy Ramon, who led the Mustang girls to back-to-back appearances in the Class 6A state finals, also appears to be headed to Norman.
Ramon averaged 15.7 points and 7.9 rebounds for the Lady Broncos last season and will join Ashley Bruner to form one of the state's top one-two combos for the returning state qualifier.
Marslan to Muskogee
The MaxPreps Oklahoma Week 8 Player of the Week is also on the move. Sophomore-to-be quarterback Beau Marslan is following his father to Class 6A Muskogee from Locust Grove.
Frank Marslan had been the head coach at Locust Grove before accepting an assistant coaching position at the Muskogee.
Beau threw for 2,125 yards and 25 touchdowns last season as just a freshman, leading the Pirates to the second round of the Class 3A playoffs.
Marslan will have one of the top wide receiver prospects in the nation as a reliable target for the 2007 season. Jameel Owens, a 6-4 wideout that holds offers from Arkansas, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, LSU, and Tennessee to name a few, has hauled in 20 career touchdown receptions heading into his senior season.
