SHAW, Miss. -
Shaw (Miss.) put up 16 points in the fourth quarter in Saturday's game to seal their 36-6 victory over Durant (Miss.).
After taking the lead on a
Reggie Scott touchdown run in the second quarter, the Hawks were up 12-6 at the half.
Shaw expanded its lead to 14 points entering the fourth quarter. SHS scored two times in the third, including once on a touchdown run by Scott.
Scott and
Jermarquis Stimmage ran for a bunch of touchdowns for the Tigers. Scott scored three touchdowns on the ground and Stimmage added two as well.
Durant's only touchdown came on a 3-yard run by Ira Haymer, Jr in the second quarter.
The Hawks also won the meeting between the two teams last season, 20-14.
The loss comes after Durant defeated Williams Sullivan 32-20 last week. The loss broke Durant's three-game winning streak.
In a 1A Region 2 game next week Shaw (2-2) takes on Broad Street, and Durant (3-1) will go up against St. Aloysius also in a 1A Region 2 game.
