Rio Linda (Calif.) defeat
Christian Brothers (Sacramento, Calif.) 40-13 after a strong game from
Marcel Brown, who rushed for four touchdowns. The scores gave the junior nine touchdowns for the year.
After taking the lead on a
Leonard Skattebo touchdown run in the first quarter, the Knights were up 13-6 at the half.
Rio Linda grew its lead to 14 points entering the fourth quarter. RL scored three times in the third, including once on a touchdown run by Brown.
The Knights locked in the win by scoring 13 points in the fourth quarter to push the final margin to 27.
Rio Linda had given up an average of 8.3 points prior to the contest. The 13 points that the Falcons ended with were well below their average of 31.3 coming into the game.
The defeat comes as a step back for Christian Brothers, which notched a 35-19 victory over Oakmont in its previous outing.
In a Capital Valley Conference game next week Christian Brothers (4-3) takes on Del Campo, and Rio Linda (6-1) will go up against Casa Roble also in a Capital Valley Conference game.
