GILBERT, Ariz. - Although Gilbert Christian (Gilbert, Ariz.) received five touchdown passes from Bailey Anderson, Gilbert Christian (Gilbert, Ariz.) was on the short end of a 66-34 upset to
Bagdad (Ariz.).
After taking the lead on a
Casey Jeans touchdown run in the first quarter, the Sultans led 42-20 at the half.
Bagdad grew its lead to 30 points entering the fourth quarter. BHS scored four times in the third, including once on a Jeans touchdown run.
Jeans and
Justin Pacheco ran for a bunch of touchdowns for the Knights. Jeans scored three touchdowns on the ground and Pacheco added two as well.
Jeans was the top performer for the Sultans. The junior running back ran for three touchdowns. He has now scored 13 touchdowns on the season.
When the two teams played each other last season, Bagdad came away with a 56-12 victory.
The defeat comes as a step back for Gilbert Christian, which notched a 57-6 victory over Ray in its previous outing.
