Three new faces appear among the favorites to claim the 2017 MaxPreps National High School Football Player of the Year award, and all have their teams in contention for a state title.
Obviously, you have to put up big-time numbers to be named Player of the Year, but, more importantly, it comes down to wins and losses. The 10 players selected have gone a combined 130-3 in 2017.
Seven of the 10 finalists are quarterbacks, two are wide receivers and only one running back was selected this time. Nine of the players are committed to Power 5 conferences, including two who are pledged to the No. 1 team in college football — Clemson.
