Piedmont (Monroe, N.C.) grabbed the lead when
Cameron Tripp thew a touchdown to
Tyler Ivey with 2:00 remaining in the fourth quarter and held on to defeat
Parkwood (Monroe, N.C.) 38-31 on Saturday. The score was the final lead change in a back-and-forth contest that featured four lead swaps.
After nabbing the lead on a field goal by
Connor Casper, the Rebels went into halftime with a 17-14 lead. The Panthers scored the winning points with a touchdown pass by Tripp to Ivey that came in the fourth quarter.
The victory was a step in the right direction for Piedmont, which was coming off a 59-7 defeat at the hands of Porter Ridge in its previous game. The defeat comes as a step back for Parkwood, which notched a 42-7 victory over Union Academy in its previous outing.
Piedmont (2-1) goes up against Forest Hills in a non-conference game matchup next week, while Parkwood (1-2) locks horns with Jordan-Matthews also in a non-conference game.
