Folsom (Calif.) quarterback entered the game with 70 touchdown passes and became the only quarterback in national history to have 70 or more touchdown passes after tossing 70 the season before. He threw for a state-record 75 as a junior.
Browning's six touchdowns in the semifinal win over Monterey Trail in the Sac-Joaquin Section Division I playoffs gave him 76 on the season.
The 76 touchdown passes tie him with Ben Mauk of Kenton (Ohio) for fourth place on the national single-season touchdown list. Will Grier of Davidson Day (N.C.) and Thomas Thrash of Pulaski Academy (Little Rock, Ark.) are tied for second place with 77 touchdowns. Corey Robinson of Lone Oak (Paducah, Ky.) is the leader with 91.
Browning's 214 career touchdowns rank second all-time nationally behind Maty Mauk of Kenton (Ohio), who has 219.
