5A Special District 2 recap October 1, 2013
Roosevelt's Kimane Domena rumbled for the longest rushing play in 5A Special District 2 this season in his game against Benson Tech last week. Domena scampered for 73 yards on the play and finished with 138 on the day as his team beat the Techmen.
Adding to the longest winning streak in the league this week, Roosevelt beat Benson Tech 43-8. This was the team's fourth consecutive win.
Wilson's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Rodney Latham threw for 104 and 3 touchdowns and Bailey Sadorf had 65 yards receiving. On the ground Tyler Lunceford contributed 253 yards.
The Trojans' dynamic duo of Latham and Sadorf proved tough for Jefferson to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
He went 6-10 with 0 interception.
Lunceford was a force in the backfield as Wilson bested the Democrats.
Lunceford provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Ken Dulio's team topped Jefferson. Lunceford's favorite target this week was Sadorf, who caught 3 passes for 65 yards.
Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, the Roughriders' Domena and James Schell-Buchanan have proven to be a lethal combination. Domena has thrown for 833 yards this season, while Schell-Buchanan, a 6-foot-0 receiver, has 18 catches for 409 yards. Lunceford from the Trojans leads the league in rushing with 722 yards.
A big matchup in 5A Special District 2 this week will be when Franklin takes on Anthony Stoudamire's team. At the moment, the Quakers are in second, while the Democrats are in third.
Madison lost to Crook County 49-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
