Throughout the month of March, MaxPreps.com will highlight 10 high school seniors sure to make a splash in the 2011 NCAA Tournament.
No. 10 Cory Joseph
6-3 / 180 / Guard
Findlay Prep (Henderson, Nev.)
Headed to: Unsigned and uncommitted. Joseph is considering Connecticut, Minnesota, Nevada-Las Vegas, Texas and Villanova.
2009-10 season: Joseph led Findlay Prep to a 29-2 regular-season record and a No. 10 national ranking by MaxPreps. He is averaging a team-high 18.6 points per game along with 6.8 rebounds, 5.1 assists and 2.5 steals. Joseph and the Pilots are expected to be part of the eight-team field at the National High School Invitational in April.
Next-level analysis: It’s difficult to get into particulars since he hasn’t decided on a school, but Joseph is among the most college-ready guards in the 2010 class. A native of Canada, he isn’t going to blow people away with flash or flair, but will make whatever school he picks better with heady guidance at the point guard position and solid decision-making.
Joseph has made a habit of playing big in big games as a senior, delivering 27 points at the City of Palms Classic against Winter Park and 23 points, nine rebounds and four assists against then-No. 1 St. Patrick in January. He posted a 38-point, 10-rebound, 10-assist triple-double Feb. 26 against Westwind Prep.
