Pope John Paul II (Slidell, La.) jumped out to an early lead against
Pearl River (La.) and never looked back on the way to a 27-7 victory on Saturday.
The Jaguars put up 20 points in the opening frame. Pope John Paul II scored on a passing touchdown, a passing touchdown and a punt return touchdown.
After taking the lead on a passing touchdown in the first quarter, PJPI led 27-0 at the half.
Pearl River's lone touchdown came on a 1-yard run by
Devan Penton in the fourth quarter.
When the two teams played each other last season, the Slidell school came away with a 45-20 victory.
With the win the Jaguars extended their winning streak to three games.
Pope John Paul II (3-0) will play a non-conference game against Newman next week, while Pearl River (0-2) will take on Northlake Christian also in a non-conference game.
