Junior All-American Team
MaxPreps 2017 National Junior Player of the Year — Kathryn Sandercock, Bishop O'Connell (Arlington, Va.)Sandercock, a member of the U.S. Junior National Girls Team who has
committed to James Madison, was 26-0 with a 0.09 ERA and 330 strikeouts
in 151 innings for the Knights (27-0). She tossed eight no-hitters and
five one-hitters, and allowed 35 hits on the season. At the plate,
Sandercock hit .471 with eight home runs, 25 extra-base hits, 57 RBIs
and a 1.023 slugging percentage. Bishop O'Connell, which won the
Washington Catholic Athletic Conference tournament as well as the
Virginia Independent School Athletic Association DI title, finished No. 3
in the national rankings.

P — Montana Fouts, East Carter (Grayson, Ky.) Fouts, an Alabama commit, led the Raiders to a 36-5 season and 3-2
state showing. She totaled 448 strikeouts in 212 innings to go with a
0.43 ERA and 29 wins. Fouts repeated as Kentucky's Gatorade softball
Player of the Year. She was a force in the batter's box, hitting .567
with a 1.017 slugging percentage, a dozen home runs, 16 doubles and 66
RBIs.
P — Megan Faraimo, Cathedral Catholic (San Diego)Faraimo finished the season 27-1, including a 3-0, 10-inning win over
Ramona in the California Interscholastic Federation San Diego Section Open Division title game. Faraimo,
who has committed to play for UCLA, had 251 strikeouts and walked 12 in
175 innings with 14 shutouts, 22 complete games and a 0.60 ERA. She also
hit .402 with 26 RBIs.
P — Tristan Bridges, Krum (Texas)Bridges led her team to a state 4A title and 40-5 record. The Tarleton
State commit won 35 games and posted a 0.47 ERA with 305 strikeouts in
225 innings. She also batted .419 with 15 doubles. She was first team
All-State and the 4A tournament MVP.
P — Kelly Nelson, Norton (Mass.)Nelson led Norton to state semifinal game where she lost in 12 innings
despite striking out 28. She finished the season 21-2 with a 0.21 ERA
and struck out 398 in 166 innings. In her other loss — a 1-0 defeat —
she allowed one hit and struck out 17. She gave up 31 hits, tossed 18
shutouts and seven no-hitters in 2017. She also batted .372 with 24
RBIs. She struck out 20 or more in a game seven times. She was named
state Gatorade Player of the Year and has committed to
Massachusetts-Lowell.
P — Saidi Castillo, Santa Gertrudis Academy (Kingsville, Texas)Castillo finished the season 34-2, striking out 332 with a 0.79 ERA. She
also batted.389 with 32 RBIs. She was an All-State selection by the
Texas Girls Coaches Association and earned All-Tournament honors at the
state tourney.
P — Camryn Dolby, Woodgrove (Purcellville, Va.)Dolby, the state 4A Player of the Year, led Woodgrove to a 23-0 season
and a state title. Dolby, who has committed to Boston College, allowed
one earned run in her first 120 innings before entering the postseason,
where she went 8-0. She finished with 287 strikeouts in 134 innings.
P — Katie Turner, McNairy Central (Selmer, Tenn.)The All-State Turner struck out 404 batters and posted a 0.73 ERA in winning 27 games and pitching 231 innings. She pitched 19 shutouts and only one batter of the 882 she faced homered. She also hit .394.
P — Faith Howe, Beaverton (Mich.)The first team All-State selection went 34-4, with eight wins over teams that won district championships. Howe punched out 379 batters and walked 28 in 233 innings, compiling a 0.51 ERA. She batted .376 with 13 doubles and 33 RBIs.
P — Hannah Perkins, Fort Myers (Fla.) Perkins led her squad to the state title with a 22-1 record, posting a 0.76 ERA in 148 innings pitched while striking out 205 batters and walking 18. She was named state 7A Player of the Year and a finalist for Miss Florida Softball.
P — Danielle Williams, Amador Valley (Pleasanton, Calif.) The Missouri commit led the Dons to a deep playoff run by batting .456. But it was her pitching that boosted Amador Valley most. She won 21 games and struck out 245 batters in 144 innings with a 0.53 ERA. Williams allowed 11 runs, 46 base hits and one home run.
C — Jordyn Rudd, Center Grove (Greenwood, Ind.)Rudd hit .667 with 58 RBIs and collected 62 hits, including 15 home runs. The Northwestern University commit led the Trojans to their second regional title in three years. Rudd was named first team All-State and the Daily Journal's Player of the Year.
C — Riley Cantrell, Berkner (Richardson, Texas) The Oklahoma State pledge hit .687 with 15 homers, 58 RBIs, 48 runs and 19 steals in leading Berkner to 19 wins. Cantrell, named All-State, had 30 extra-base hits in 25 games.
C — Allysa Shipman, Valencia (Calif.) The Tennessee recruit batted .613 with a .726 on-base percentage and a 1.363 slugging percentage. She hit 15 home runs and walked 33 times with zero strikeouts in 113 plate appearances as the Vikings went 24-8.
C — Madison Huskey, Gahr (Cerritos, Calif.)Huskey led Gahr to a 26-1 season as she hit .549 with 53 RBIs and 43 runs scored. She homered 16 times and hit 15 doubles to finish with a 1.263 slugging percentage. She did not commit an error and was honored by being named All-California Interscholastic Federation Southern Section's D2 top player. She has committed to Washington.
IF — Marissa Schuld, Pinnacle (Phoenix)Schuld is the major reason Pinnacle lost just twice in 36 games. Named the state Gatorade softball Player of the Year, Schuld batted .505 with 57 RBIs, 12 doubles and 15 home runs. She also was 22-1 with 248 strikeouts in 131 innings for the state runner up Pioneers. The Arizona commit tossed two no-hitters, nine shutouts and posted a 0.80 ERA.
IF — Erin Bengston, Grant (Fox Lake, Ill.)Bengston, a Holy Cross recruit, ripped 22 home runs with 70 RBIs and batted .596 with a 1.431 slugging percentage. She was named Class 4A Illinois Coaches Association first team All-State.
IF — Kylie Baumert, Twin Falls (Idaho)Baumert batted .650 with five home runs, 14 doubles, 11 triples and 31
RBIs as Twin Falls finished fourth at 4A state. She scored 60 runs,
stole 29 bases and collected 67 hits. Add a 4-2 mark with a 1.91 ERA and
she was selected southern Idaho's Player of the Year. She had a base
hit in every game (with 23 multi-hit games). She was a MaxPreps 2014
Volleyball All-American as a freshman.
IF — Nikki Cuchran, Montini Catholic (Lombard, Ill.)Cuchran hit 11 home runs and drove in 65 runs while hitting .619 with 20
doubles, 47 runs and 60 hits. She had a .714 on-base percentage and led
Montini to a deep playoff season. Cuchran, who was the Daily Herald
DuPage County All-Area softball captain, has committed to DePaul
University.
IF — Taylor Dew, Mona Shores (Norton Shores, Mich.)Dew hit a state record 22 home runs, batted .451 and earned first team All-State honors. She also collected 13 doubles, four triples and 72 RBIs as the Sailors finished 26-16. Dew's 38 home runs are 11 shy of the state record.
IF — Kasey Flores, Eastlake (El Paso, Texas)In 35 games, Flores knocked in 70 runs, homered 17 times, scored 74 and had 52 hits for a .571 batting average. She also walked 42 times and finished with a .688 on-base percentage and slugged 1.274 to earn All-Area and All-State honors.
IF — Silent Rain Espinoza, Christian (El Cajon, Calif.)Espinoza had another big year with 62 hits, 64 runs, 34 RBIs, 19 doubles and nine homers. She batted .569 with an on-base percentage of .647 and slugged 1.045. She also stole 15 bases as the Patriots went 26-9-1 and won the CIF San Diego Section D3 title. She has committed to Washington.

IF — Maggie Buckholz, Silverton (Ore.)Buckholz's numbers keep rising — .734 batting average, 64 RBIs, 31 extra
base hits (including 10 homers), 29 stolen bases and a 1.430 slugging
percentage. She accounted for more than 40 percent (103) of the Foxes
225 runs. A three-time MaxPreps All-American, she has committed to
Oregon.
IF — Ashley Prange, New Palestine (Ind.)The Dragons' All-State junior hit a state-leading 21 home runs and
batted .552 in leading New Palestine to the 3A state title. She also led
the state in RBIs (67) and runs (59) while collecting 71 hits, 36 for
extra-bases.
IF — Lauren Mills, Seaman (Topeka, Kan.)The All-State Mills was the only player in Kansas to match — or best —
Shawnee's Wellshear as she hit .771 with 16 home runs and 39 RBIs. Mills
was walked 36 times and had an on-base percentage of .860 and a 2.041
slugging percentage. Despite the walks, she had 16 multi-hit games. She
was 8-2 as a pitcher with a 3.88 ERA.
IF — Olivia Aycock, Westminster Christian (Huntsville, Ala.)Every winning team has a table setter and few are as good as Aycock. She batted .494, scored 76 runs on 83 hits, walked 20 times and stole 55 bases as Westminster went 51-4 and placed second at state.
IF — Maeve Nelson, Oak Park-River Forest (Oak Park, Ill.)Even though teams pitched around Nelson, she put up big numbers for the Huskies — .514 batting average, 12 homers, 61 RBIs and 60 runs as the Huskies won the state large school state title. A first team All-State pick, Nelson has committed to Northwestern.
IF — Emily Hansen, Buffalo (Minn.)The future Minnesota Gopher batted .694 that included an 19-for-19 streak (13 RBI, 15 runs, five doubles and three homers). For the season, the All-State Hansen had nine home runs, 37 RBIs and a 1.323 slugging percentage.
OF — Lexie Blair, West Orange (Winter Garden, Fla.)Blair had 17 multi-hit games for the back-to-back Class 9A state champions. In the postseason's final three games, she was 7-for-11 with six RBIs, three doubles, one triple and an inside-the-park home run. She led the Warriors in nearly every offensive category, including batting average (.515), hits (53), runs scored (43), RBIs (39) and doubles (15). She has committed to Michigan.
OF — Rachel Hammons, Bourgade Catholic (Phoenix)Hammons had another big season as she batted .658, scored 76 runs, drove
in 32 and stole 68 bases. She was the catalyst that led the 28-6 Golden
Eagles to the state 2A silver trophy as she earned All-State honors.
OF — Kiersten Landers, Hurricane (W. Va.)Landers, who has committed to Florida, set the table for the high-ranking Indians with a .560 batting average, five triples, 35 stolen bases and 49 runs scored. Landers played a key role in Hurricane's No. 6 national ranking and large school state title. She was first team All-State.
OF — Taylor Gindlesperger, Hamilton (Chandler, Ariz.)Gindlesperger played key role in leading Hamilton to large school state title as she batted .555 with nine home runs 71 hits, 50 RBIs, 51 runs scored, 21 doubles and stole 18 bases. Committed to Indiana, she was named first team All-Arizona.
UTIL — Rylan Austin, North Medford (Medford, Ore.)Likely a middle infielder in college, Austin was needed in the circle and responded with a 24-1 record as the Black Tornado went 30-1 and won the state large school title. She also batted better than .500 and drove in 48 runs. A first team All-State choice, Austin was named league's Player of the Year.
UIL — Alex Storako, Lincoln-Way East (Frankfort, Ill.)The first team All-State and Daily Southtown 2017 Player of the Year, Storako led the Griffins to a second-place finish in Class 4A. A DePaul commit, she finished 22-3 with 289 strikeouts in 178 innings and with a 0.86 ERA. She also hit .418 with four home runs and 35 RBIs.
Sophomore All-American Team
MaxPreps 2017 National Sophomore of the Year — Fiona Girardot, Oak Park-River ForestDating back to her freshman season, Girardot had a base hit in 50-straight games and reached base in the first 37 games this season. She finished 2017 with a .603 average (70 hits), 22 doubles and 59 RBIs. She also scored 56 times and played a key role in leading the Huskies to a 37-1 season and the class 4A title. Girardot, who was the only sophomore to be named to the at-large MaxPreps All-American team, has committed to Wisconsin.

P — Kristin Cocke, Safford (Ariz.)Cocke received raves all season — including after the 3A championship
game loss to Empire when she struck out 14 and all runs in a 4-1 loss
were unearned. For the season, she struck out 390 in 188 innings and won
25-of-30 decisions. Cocke pitched a dozen shutouts, threw four
no-hitters and batted .545 with 30 RBIs.
P — Mia Faieta, Cedar Grove (N.J.)Faieta pitched the "perfect" perfect game as she struck out every batter she faced. It was one of four no-hitters on the season. She had a state-best 384 strikeouts and 18 earned runs allowed in 176 innings to lead Cedar Grove to Small Group 1 title. Faieta finished the season with three no-hitters at the state tournament. She also threw out the first pitch prior to a New York Yankees game.
P — Aspen Wesley, Neshoba Central (Philadelphia, Miss.)Wesley led the Rockets to a 30-3 record and a second straight 5A state title when she posted a 25-2 mark in the circle with a 0.77 ERA and 349 strikeouts in 180 innings. In the postseason, she recorded six shutouts in nine games. Though only a sophomore, she is a four-time first team All-State selection. The state Gatorade softball winner has committed to Mississippi State.
P — Ashley Blessin, Plant City (Fla.)Blessin recorded a 0.54 ERA en route to a 22-3 season as Plant City reached the state 8A semifinals. She also had 231 strikeouts in 156 innings. Blessin, who has committed to Jacksonville University, was named first team, 8A All-State.
P — Janessa Jasso, Dos Palos (Calif.)Jasso went 23-3 and had 275 strikeouts (and just 25 walks) in 164 innings, but Dos Palos fell 1-0 to Selma in the CIF Central Section D4 semifinals. Her ERA was 0.64. Jasso, who has committed to Iowa State, also batted .467 with 26 RBIs.
P — Paige Petefish, Shawnee Heights (Tecumseh, Kan.)Petefish had a 16-0 record and a 1.00 ERA, striking out 120 batters in 77 innings for the undefeated 5A state champions. She allowed 37 hits and 14 walks on the season.
P — Dylann Kaderka, Keller (Texas)Kaderka led Keller to the 6A title with a 30-5 record. Named first team All-State, she recorded a 1.67 ERA and had 136 strikeouts in 210 innings.

P — Ashley Hitchcock, Eastwood (Pemberville, Ohio)The Toledo commit won 25 games in earning first team All-State honors and leading the Eagles on a long playoff run. She posted a 0.88 ERA and fanned 320 batters in 167 innings. At the plate, she knocked in 50 runs and batted .450.
P — Lexi Hutchins, Joaquin (Texas)Hutchins, an All-State pick, was big reason Joaquin won 34 games as she
batted .521 with 65 RBIs, 50 runs, 21 doubles and 14 homers. Her
slugging percentage was 1.134. In addition, Hutchins threw six
no-hitters, won 32-of-39 decisions and posted a 1.07 ERA in 223 innings
with 237 strikeouts.
P — Abby Swaney, Springville (Ala.)Swaney pitched Springville to the state 5A title with 324 strikeouts, a 33-9 record, 20 shutouts, three no-hitters, and a 1.38 ERA. The Samford University commit was named to the state's All-Super Softball Team.
C — Kinzie Hansen, Norco (Calif.)Hansen, who was named Cal-Hi Sports Sophomore of the Year, was the battery-mate for MaxPreps National Player of the Year Taylor Dockins. Hansen batted .456 with 15 extra base hits and had team highs with 43 RBIs and 47 base hits. With Dockins and Hansen, Norco finished the season 33-1 and ranked No. 2. Hanson has committed to Oklahoma.
C — Sophie Dunavant, Jackson Christian (Jackson, Tenn.)Dunavant batted .528 this year with 10 home runs and 14 doubles to go along with 48 RBIs and 50 runs scored. She was named the 2017 All-West Tennessee Softball Player of the Year, and had a .994 fielding average as Jackson Christian won 26 games.
C — Hailey Merlino, Bishop Manogue (Reno, Nev.)Merlino led the Miners to the Nevada state north finals and a 29-7 season when she batted .573 and drove in 66 runs. She had 13 doubles and 13 homers and scored 56 times. Merlino also stole 18 bases and fielded .981. She is a two time All-State pick.
C — Delaney Rummell, Hampshire (Ill.)The Whip-Purs' catcher and leadoff batter hit .620 with a .674 on-base percentage and a 1.182 slugging percentage. She finished with 75 hits, 20 doubles, nine triples, 10 home runs, scored 67 runs and drove in 35. She was named All-State and to the Fox Valley All-Area team. She has committed to Illinois.
IF — Alynah Torres, Cactus (Glendale, Ariz.)Torres has amassed 140 hits, a .603 average, scored 113 times and drove
in 134 as a two-time All-State selection. This season, she hit .617 with
71 hits, 71 RBIs, 56 runs and had a base hit in all but one game.
Committed to Arizona State, Torres was the MaxPreps 2016 National
Freshman of the Year.
IF — Sydney Wellshear, Shawnee Heights (Kan.)Wellshear led the state-champion and unbeaten T-Birds in batting average
(.712), doubles (15), home runs (13) and RBIs (41). Add to that an
on-base percentage of .712 and a slugging percentage of 1.507 and it is
easy to understand an unbeaten season.
IF — Vivian Ponn, Fort Myers (Fla.)Ponn led the Green Wave with a .500 batting average and .584 on-base percentage. She contributed five home runs, eight doubles, 29 RBIs and 18 runs scored as Fort Myers won the state 7A title. Ponn, who has committed to Southern Florida, also went 8-1 on the mound with a 0.92 ERA.
IF — Emily O'Connor, New Palestine (Ind.)O'Connor led New Palestine to state D3 title hitting 14 homers, driving in 59 and batting .558. O'Connor, who finished season with 27-game hitting streak and has committed to Eastern Michigan, was named first team All-State.
IF — Madison Hirsch, The Colony (Texas)The Kansas pledge was All-State and hit 18 home runs and had 80 RBIs for the state 5A champions. Hirsch hit .543 and scored 57 runs for The Colony, and 38 of her 63 hits (60 percent) went for extra bases. She drove in 21 runs in 11 playoff games.
IF — Janelle Meono, Wilson (Hacienda Heights, Calif.) Meono, a University of Arizona commit, helped lead the Wildcats to the CIF Southern Section D6 semifinals, batting .667 with eight triples, five doubles and three home runs. She also stole 30 bases and scored 54 runs.
IF — Ariel Carlson, Marist (Eugene, Ore.)Carlson homered 16 times and drove in 72 runs while hitting .547 as Marist won the state 5A title. She also went 6-1 in the circle and notched 92 strikeouts in 49 innings. The first team All-State pick has committed to Oregon.
IF — Jocelyn Ulrich, Aztec (N.M.)Ulrich hit 11 homers, batted .505 and drove in 56 runs as Aztec won its final 21 games of the season and the state 5A title. She was named first team All-State.
IF — Madison Owens, Latta (S.C.)The University of South Carolina commit batted .535 with 45 RBIs, including nine doubles, four triples and nine home runs. Owens was named the Morning News Softball Player of the Year as Latta won the state 2A title.
IF — Lauren Esman, Gull Lake (Richland, Mich.)Esman posted a .692 batting average with 21 home runs, 91 RBIs, 24 doubles, 81 hits and 74 runs scored. Her home-run total is one shy of the state record. She also was 15-11 record with 178 strikeouts and a 2.02 ERA. Esman's record-setting season has earned her the 2017 Kalamazoo Gazette Softball Player of the Year award.
IF — Huntyr Ava, West (Salt Lake City)The hits just keep coming for Ava, who batted .594 with 66 RBIs and 21 home runs. Her slugging percentage was 1.385. Ava, who has committed to Brigham Young, was state 5A Player of the Year.
IF — MacKenzie Griman, Penn (Mishawaka, Ind.) Griman accounted for 101 of Penn's 309 runs as she hit .551 and also knocked in 62 teammates. She was 5-0 with a 1.45 ERA and fanned 42 in 29 innings as the 27-2 Kingsmen took home the state 4A silver medal. She was 4A first team All-State.
OF — Grace Hosman, Millennium (Tracy, Calif.)Hosman went hitless in one game en route to a .619 batting average and 60 base hits in Millennium's 21-7 season. She had multiple hit games 19 times and scored in all but three games. Her on-base percentage was .675 and she stole 41 bases. She has committed to Portland State.
OF — Jenna Wildeman, Bentonville (Ark.)The first team All-Stater led Bentonville to 7A state title with 31 stolen bases, 35 runs, 51 hits and a .515 average. The Central Arkansas commit did not commit an error.
OF — Maddie Webber, King's Academy (Seymour, Tenn.)Committed Tennessee, Webber batted .556 average and hit 15 home runs and drove in 71 runs. The first team, All-State pick hit .600 in the state tournament with two home runs and four RBIs.
OF — Kaylee Vaught, Pisgah (Pisgah, Ala.)Vaught helped Eagles to Class 3A title with 18 home runs, 60 RBIs, 86 hits, 59 runs, 17 doubles, a .453 average, and 16 steals. She was named All-State and 3A Hitter of the Year.
OF — Megan Delgadillo, Poly (Riverside, Calif.)Delgadillo batted .539 and her 69 hits are the fourth-highest total in Inland history. She had a .585 on-base percentage, scored 53 runs and stole 28 bases as Poly won 28 games. She was chosen to the Inland Valley League first team. She has committed to Brigham Young.
OF — Emma Ritter, John Carroll (Bel Air, Md.)Ritter was named Varsity Sports Network's Softball Player of the Year and made the Baltimore Sun's All-Metro Team. The Virginia Tech commit led Carroll in average (.643), home runs (eight) and RBIs (36).
UTIL — Syd Supple, Oshkosh North (Wis.)Supple led the Spartans to a 27-4 record, a state runner-up trophy and was state Gatorade Player of the Year. Supple posted a 17-4 mark with a sub-1.00 ERA and 181 strikeouts in 117 innings pitched. She was 13-1 with a 0.25 ERA against in-state opponents, averaging nearly two strikeouts per inning. At the plate, Supple, who committed to Northwestern, owned a .533 batting average with 12 doubles, five home runs, 44 runs scored and an .870 slugging percentage.
UTIL — Shaylee Ackerman, Desert Ridge (Mesa, Ariz.)Ackerman accounted for more than a third of the Jaguars' offense as she drove in 48 runs and scored 32. She homered 13 times and batted .500. She also went 16-4 with a 2.25 ERA and struck out 212 in 134 innings. The Texas A&M commit was a first team All-Arizona selection.
UTIL — Kristin Fifield, Chapin (El Paso, Texas)Not only did Fifield win 23-of-27 pitching decisions, but she batted .638 and had 43 extra base hits (including a dozen homers and 25 doubles). She drove in 50 runs and scored 79. She was first team All-State.
Freshman All-American Team
MaxPreps 2017 National Freshman Softball Player of the Year — Jayda Coleman, The Colony (Texas)Coleman — the only freshman named to this year's at-large MaxPreps All-American team — led the Dallas-Fort Worth area in runs scored (74) and stolen bases (53), tied for first in hits (81) and ranked second in average (.653). The District 14-5A MVP also ranked among area leaders with 12 home runs, and she had 17 doubles, six triples and 32 RBIs in 40 games.

P — Emily Phelan, Bishop Kearney (Rochester, N.Y.)Phelan pitched nine no-hitters, including two perfect games. The Section
5 Class C2 tournament Most Valuable Player struck out 358 batters with a
0.42 ERA. She also had a .704 on-base percentage with a .432 batting
average. Phelan was named the state's C2 Player of the Year. Phelan
pitched a trio of one-run victories in the state tournament as Bishop
Kearney won the state title.
P — Nicole May, Foothill (Pleasanton, Calif.)An Oklahoma commit, May lead Foothill to the CIF North Coast Section DI championship. She struck out 293 and finished with a 0.84 ERA. She was selected by the All-Bay Area News Group to its first team All-Star team.
P — Alicia Estrada, Rio Mesa (Oxnard, Calif.)Estrada led Rio Mesa to a 26-3 season, losing 1-0 to Dana Hills in CIF Southern Section D2 playoffs. Estrada was 19-2 with a 0.89 ERA and struck out 279 batters in 133 innings. She tossed eight no-hitters and allowed 36 hits on the season.
P — Harley Vannater, Hurricane (W. Va.)Vannater was named first team All-State as she went 20-1 for Hurricane, which finished 36-1 and sixth nationally.
P — Cally Kildow, Gravette (Ark.) Committed to Arkansas, Kildow was dominant in the circle. She was 23-7 with a 0.53 ERA and 331 strikeouts in 185 innings. She pitched 29 complete games and 14 shutouts. On offense, she hit .443 with 32 RBIs as Gravette reached the state 4A semifinals.
P — Christine Billmeier, Pilot Point (Texas)Billmeier won 26-of-28 starts as Pilot Rock went 30-3-3 with a long postseason effort. She pitched 27 complete games and fanned 233 in 181 innings. She also knocked in 48 runs, scored 40 and batted .436 with 14 doubles and 10 home runs.
P — Sydney Hornbuckle, Stockdale (Bakersfield, Calif.)Hornbuckle helped lead the Mustangs with a 20-2 record and a 0.75 ERA. She tossed 11 shutouts, 21 complete games and batted .386 with 18 RBIs as the Mustangs went 29-2.
P — Savanna DesRochers, Forney (Texas)The Kansas pledge was named the District 15-5A Pitcher of the Year and was All-State. DesRochers went 24-6 with a 1.28 ERA and 201 strikeouts in 179 innings for Forney, a 5A Region II finalist. She hit .477 with 12 home runs, 13 doubles, 52 RBIs and a .898 slugging percentage.
P — Haley Pittman, Alabama Christian Academy (Montgomery, Ala.)A first-team 4A All-State with an Auburn commitment, Pittman was 26-3 and an 0.92 ERA. In 159 innings, she gave up 76 hits with 304 strikeouts. She also batted .394 with a .425 on-base percentage and 34 RBIs in 57 games.
P — Alissa Humphrey, Gainesville (Fla.)Humphrey led the Hurricanes with a 21-3 record and 1.75 ERA, 198 strikeouts in 107 innings. She pitched four one-hitters. She hit .393 with 29 RBIs and was named the Gainesville Sun Player of the Year.
C — Abby Doerr, Marist (Ore.)The Oregon commit batted .582 with 39 RBIs, 57 hits, 13 doubles and six homers. Doerr committed five errors in 29 games as Marist won the state 5A title. She was 5A first team All-State.
C — McCall Lee, Brandon (Miss.)Already a three-year varsity starter, Lee finished her freshman season with a .556 batting average, with 11 doubles, 10 home runs 51 RBIs. She helped lead the Bulldogs to the 6A final four. She was a first team All-State selection.
IF — Bailey Dowling, St. Joseph-Ogden (St. Joseph, Ill.)The freshman made a major impact on state softball when she hit .655
with 22 home runs (second best in state history), 14 doubles, five
triples, 70 runs, 78 hits and 66 RBIs. Chosen as a unanimous first team
2A All-State performer, Dowling has committed to Alabama.
IF — Allison Smith, Champion (Warren, Ohio)Smith was the big bat in the middle of the Golden Flashes lineup as she hit 18 home runs and drove in 64 en route to a 32-2 mark and D3 state title. She scored 58 runs, had a 1.136 slugging percentage, and added a 7-1 record with a 0.70 ERA and 81 strikeouts in 50 innings.
IF — Allie Skaggs, Ballard (Louisville, Ky.)Skaggs made immediate impact with a .545 batting average, 52 runs and 43 RBIs. Among her 35 extra base hits (in 39 games) were 20 doubles and nine homers. Skaggs, who earned All-Regions honors, also stole 13 bases.
IF — Abby Buettner, Ryan (Denton, Texas)Buettner had 79 RBI — the third-highest total by a Dallas-area player in the last 12 years. She scored 43 runs, stole 25 bases and had a 1.181 slugging percentage. Buettner had a .606 average with 14 home runs, and was named All-State and the District 5-5A offensive Player of the Year.
IF — Carlie Scupin, Tucson High Magnet School (Ariz.)Scupin committed three errors in 151 chances (.980) and batted .551 with 42 RBIs as the Badgers won 29 and took bronze in Arizona's large school division. She received All-Arizona recognition. Scupin has committed to Arizona.
IF — Macey Hughes, Gibbs (Corryton, Tenn.)Hughes drove in 71 runs and batted .417 for the large school state champions. The All-Region pick had 27 extra base hits, walked 27 times and committed two errors in 125 chances. Hughes was also a perfect 24-for-24 in steals.
IF — Kristiana Watson, Amphitheater (Tucson, Ariz.)Despite playing on 14-14 team, Watson hit .753, scored 60 times and drove in 54 with 19 doubles and 17 homers in 27 games. She was also 7-2 as a pitcher with 58 strikeouts in 40 innings. The six-foot freshman is daughter of former two-time Arizona All-American Laura Espinoza.
IF — Britany Patrick, Pe Ell/Willapa Valley (Menlo, Wash.)Patrick was first team All-League, All-Area and finished seventh in the state in hitting with a .653 average. She had 47 base hits with 15 doubles, seven triples and five home runs as the Titans won the state B2 title with a 25-1 record. Patrick drove in 42 runs and scored 43.
IF — Bobbi Ann Pratt, Aquinas (San Bernardino, Calif.)Pratt batted .734 with 58 RBIs and scored 51 runs. She ended the regular season with six straight multi-hit games. Pratt had 20 extra base hits and a slugging percentage of 1.202.
IF — Cameron Fagan, Dunnellon (Fla.)Fagan led the Tigers in every offensive category — .614 average, 51 runs, 62 hits, 45 RBIs, .640 on-base percentage and 38 steals as they won 23 games. Miracle Sports chose Fagan first team 6A All-State.
IF — Lexi Johnson, Riverside Academy (Reserve, La.)Johnson, a three-year varsity starter, not only was New Orleans All-Metro Hitter of the Year with 16 homers and 63 RBIs, but she hit 23 doubles and had a 1.229 slugging percentage. She won six games in the circle and was named to the Class 2A All-State softball team.
IF — Tiare Jennings, St. Anthony (Long Beach, Calif.)Jennings got her high school career off to a good start by hitting .521, leading the Saints to the CIF Southern Section D6 title and being named All-CIF. She has committed to Oklahoma.
IF — Stormy Kotzelnick, Carmel (Ind.)Kotzelnick put up monster numbers for Carmel hitting .600 with 39 runs, 34 RBIs, 45 hits, 22 extra base hits, 11 bombs and 17 stolen bases. The Washington commit, who accounted for nearly 40 percent of the Greyhounds' offense, had a .688 on-base percentage and a 1,200 slugging percentage in 23 games.
OF — Caridad Estes, Oxbridge Academy (West Palm Beach, Fla.)In 29 games, the 4A All-State pick had 28 extra-base hits (including 10 homers), scored 46 runs and drove in 45 while batting .521. She also was 9-1 with a 1.58 ERA.
OF — Avery Goelz, Lakewood Ranch (Bradenton, Fla.)Goelz homered and doubled a dozen times each, drove in 38, scored 43 and batted a team high .540 as the 27-3 Mustangs reached the 8A state quarterfinals. Goelz was named by Miracle Sports as 8A Hitter of the Year.
OF — Melody Coombs, St. Mary's Ryken (Leonardtown, Md.)The Syracuse commit hit 11 home runs in 68 at-bats and batted .426 with 32 RBIs in 19 games.
OF — Marlie McNulty, Keystone (La Grange, Ohio)McNulty played a key role in Keystone reaching the state 3A semifinals and winning 26 games. The first team All-State pick stole 37 bases, batted .489 and scored 36 times.
UTIL — Raegan Breedlove, Central Valley (Shasta Lake, Calif.)An Oregon commit, Breedlove batted .500 with 10 homers and 44 RBIs for the Falcons. She won 17 games and struck out 301 in 160 innings.
UTIL — Tehya Bird, Cloverdale (Calif.)Bird, committed to Oregon, finished the season hitting .727 with 53 RBIs and 58 runs. She homered 11 times, walked 29 times and struck out once. Her on-base percentage was .814 and she slugged 1.515. She also was 18-5 with 220 strikeouts in 151 innings. Bird scored in all but one game.
UTIL — Rachel Wicker, Rogers (Puyallup, Wash.)Wicker, named league co-MVP, batted .653 with 42 hits, 32 RBIs, 33 runs and hit eight home runs. She played shortstop, second, first, right field and center field this season for Rogers (19-4).
UTIL — Hallie Wacaser, Bentonville West (Centerton, Ark.)The Florida State commit batted .552 with a state-leading 14 homers. She also had 48 RBIs and scored 45 times in 34 games. She was named 7A All-State.
